Tis the Season to be Jolly

Posted by RunBrianRun on Dec 22, 2007 10:30:04 PM

OK, three days before Christmas and overall I have been donig ok.  I am definitely getting my lifting in, doing some running (should be doing a little more there), playing some basketball and feeling good overall.  But, as I was worried about during the holidays, diet is still not optimal.  Holiday parties and dinners make it a little challenging to drop pounds.  Let's just say that my family and friends aren't serving celery and prune juice at their parties.  And I clearly can't miss a good party, right?  Anyhow, I am targeting Dec. 26 as the day to really dig in on the diet and eat right.  Since my workouts are going well, getting control of my diet should really help me make progress.  I will be consulting with the Diet Detective and coming up with a plan that works for me.   After next week, things should really get going.

Hi Brian!  I'm right there with ya.  The holiday parties can be so unhealthy, but oh so fun!  I read the comment the diet detective left on your blog....the one about food calories and exercise equivalencies.  Wow!  What an eye opener.  Sounds like he knows his stuff.  Lucky you!  Have a great holiday.

So enjoy the egg nog, ham, mashed potatoes and cookies over the next day or two. Because the 26th is "go-time" to get in shape!

Hey Brian, I know that eating well can be difficult, but most of the work is front loaded. You need to dig into your Eating Alarm Times (the time of day when you have the most difficult time), and Diet Buster Foods (foods that make you weak in the knees)-plan for these times. Check out the Diet Cheat Sheet ( http://www.dietdetective.com/content/view/1967/156/). Also, please look at this quiz ( http://www.dietdetective.com/weightloss/quizzes/uweightloss/) and this which is part 2 (http://www.dietdetective.com/weightloss/quizzes/uweightloss/?p=2) Let me know if these help you pinpoint some of your issues, then we can get into more details. Let's try to chat at some point later today after you take a look...

Hey Brian,

Food is my biggest thing too! Who doesn't love food? I never understood why all the good stuff is fattening. Seem's like a cruel joke I've cleaned out my house of chocolate and chips and substituted things like veggies and nuts. I'm a bored eater, especially at work so those healthy things I can stuff into my mouth are important!

I look forward to seeing how your doing. Remember, we are all in this together!
