Iliotibial band or IT band syndrome has to be one of the more frustrating injuries that runners and other athletes come limping into the doctor for. Usually the pain associated with IT Band Syndrome can be treated conservatively with rest, reducing any swelling or inflammation and focusing on correcting the biomechanical problems that caused the IT band pain in the first place.
