Lisa, are there OB/GYNs that specialize in caring for active women? I am a fairly active person, have been running for over 10 years and recently increased my running to about 6 miles/ day, 6 days a week. Earlier this year, my husband and I decided to start trying for our first child at the end of this year, so I consulted my doctor but am having a challenging time working with her. In short, I have not have a period since April, she thought this may be early menopause (I am 32), but then after blood work, she said I had an abnormal thyroid, however, I had my entire thyroid removed after thyroid cancer (which we discussed at our last appointment). Then, she accused me of being anorexic (I am 5'2 and weigh 112) and suggested I gain at least 10 pounds and see her in 6 months. I really do not want to give up running and from what I have read, should not have to, but would rather see an OBGYN who primarily sees active people, if there is such a specialty! Thank you for your help.
