A refresher: I'm Megan. I'm participating in Who Wants to get Active?! My goals are to become a runner (run a 5k in less than 25 minutes) and lose 20 pounds.
I couldn't wait to get started....... today was my first run. This is the weather outside my house. So what-to-wear is a HUGE issue.
Thanks Active Toby for GREAT advice. One thing he told me was not to wear cotton. It would make me feel wet and cold. So, I reached into the bottom drawer of my dresser which contains all the "I want to get active" clothes I've bought over the last ten years. Yay!...a Polypropylene long sleeve under shirt (where did that come from?)...some polypropylene blend running tights....(I cringe.......my butt?....in tights?! ..ugh.).....I add a couple of top layers....wool socks on my hands...and voila!...a running outfit. I forced myself not to look in the mirror and headed out. STOP! I'm wearing COTTON undies! I decided no undies were better than cold undies. Off with the undies! Back out the door I went.
IT WAS GREAT!!!!! I had a short but fantastic run. I felt good. The multiple layers did their job. The drivers tried not to kill me.
It was great. I can't wait to do it again! Let the training begin!
(Oh, I forgot to mention that my darling husband came home from work on his lunch break (to watch our youngest) so I could run in the day light. He even did the dishes while I was out. What a guy!)
I can't believe you are running in so much snow!
I was seriously thinking of putting my ski mask on when I went for a run Friday morning (it was 36F in San Jose, California).
The wool socks on your hands were nice touch. What did you end up wearing for you socks?
And what type of shoes do you wear? Do you have to wear a snow shoes or shoe spikes (http://www.kahtoola.com/)?
