This is my daughters first year playing travel ball. I am amazed and lil surprised how fast some of these girls can pitch. My daughter is only 9 and has another year in U10. Maybe I'm a little bitter that my daughter is not able to hit b/c she is not used to the speed and she just learned strikes and balls last year (uur rec league had coach pitch in U8) She was strike out queen in rec ball but in travel ball she's just an average pitcher(never had a radar but guessing she throws around 40 mph). At some of the tournaments I can't believe some of these girls are only 10 year old. Some are bigger than I am. When we hosted a tournament the coaches registered their team and provided birth certificates - no ID cards, no pictures. Do teams cheat to win? It seems possible that anyone can grab any birth certificate and say Yeah that's Anna she's 10. How do they develop so fast so young? My dd starting pitching at age 7, has been going to a pitching coach for 1 1/2 yrs and practices 3-4 times a week and she is not nearly as good as some of these teams.
