Nowadays, there's a holiday for practically everything. Like this Friday, June 5th. It's National Dougnut Day. Yep, that's right, National Doughnut Day. We have a day dedicated to stuffing your face with doughnuts. What a great excuse, right? Well, just yesterday, our nation welcomed another day to celebrate. National Running Day. Woohoo!

Nevermind that it took us unt  il 2009 to decide that we should celebrate one of the oldest forms of exercise: running. Ya, whatever, Doughnut Day has only been around SINCE WWI. Cool. And we wonder why our nation has an eating problem.

Either way, we're headed in the right direction thanks to the United States running industry and their unified effotr to nationally and locally promote running as a healthy, simple and easy form of exercise.

"This is a day to celebrate the most universal of all sports," said [USA Track & Field CEO Doug Logan|]. "By taking National Running Day into the virtual realm of social networking, we’re doing even more to expand that universe. You might be running toward a goal, running with a purpose, or even just running away from your problems. Any reason is a good reason to run, especially on [National Running Day|]."

What is a Ragnar?

Posted by Parkerle08 May 29, 2009

My Definition:

Ragnar- someone who is really ragnarly

A More Intelligent Definition:

+Ragnar was a 9th century Norse King. He was a pirate, a raider, a

conqueror, an explorer, and a wild man. The tough, fearless, rugged

attributes of this Norse King are shared by all who participate in a

Ragnar Relay.+

What is a Ragnar Relay?

In a Ragnar Relay the wild nature of this Norse King is embraced by

many participants. Participants who aren't afraid to paint their van

plaid, to bring along their own hair band, to join together in yelling

as they cross the finish line. You may think that you are not one of

them, but you are. Everyone has a wild side and nothing brings it out

of you like a Ragnar Relay.

Sweet, but really, What is a Ragnar Relay?

You and 11 of your closest friends running day and night, relay-style,

through some of the most scenic terrain North America could muster. Add

in live bands, inside jokes and a mild case of sleep deprivation. The

result? Some call it a slumber party without sleep, pillows or

deodorant. We call it a Ragnar Relay...
