Vitiligo is disease, As a result of white patches on part of body.Even the color of hairs may turn in white which grown in affected area. In thisdisease In Vitiligo, the special skin cells (melanocytes) as well as thetissues (mucous membranes) that line the inside of the mouth, nose, genital andrectal areas, and the retina of the eyes are destroyed.

The skin in vitiligo patches is usually sensitive to sun (photosensitivity) and sun burns are common symptoms of vitiligo.

This is easy to diagnose because of white spots on skin are thecommon symptom of vitiligo. Vitiligo pigmentation loss can occur in any age,any gender and in any race. Pigment means a color and pigmentation is thephenomenon of coloring. In biological terms, pigment is defined as "Asubstance that gives color to tissue" (Dictionary of popular medicalterms).

The number of people affected by vitiligo disorder ranges from40-50 million. It forms about 1 to 2% of people in the world. 2 to 5 millionpeople have the disorder in the United States alone. In Autoimmune diseases, aperson's immune system reacts against the body's own organs or tissues.Vitiligo is found to be more common in people with certain autoimmune diseases.

White patches (depigmentation) on the skin are the foremost symbolof vitiligo. These patches are more common in sun-exposed areas, including thehands, feet, arms, face, and lips. Other common areas are the armpits andgroin, and around the mouth, eyes, nostrils, navel, and genitals.
