JASON DETLOR and MATT WEBB of the Burnaby office tackled the Grouse Grind on Saturday. Sunny warm conditions for the 1.8 miles and 2,800 feet of elevation gain. Matt's inaugural Grind time of 54:40 was great. Jason's done the Grind over a hundred times and came in 10 seconds later.

ERIC MA REPORT FROM XI’AN, CHINA, said it was one of the most unforgettable ActiveX weekend ever! On Sunday, CASH XU (Controller), PAUL GUO (Desktop Administrator), EDA ZHAO (Development Tools Administrator), FOD SHADBAKHT (English Trainer) and ERIC MA (MRI Team Build Lead, M+M) rode a round trip from Electronic Mall to Huxian county military airfield, totally 90KM. Cash was the real hero, he crazily rode ~120KM on that day!! The first half trip was smooth, since the terrain was always flat, the weather was cool and they rode pretty fast to the destination, but things turned more interesting and challengeable after they were forced to leave the military airfield, and it started to rain while they having the BBQ!  FOD got a flat tire of the rear wheel of his bicycle at the point of 20KM back to the city, none of them take the repair kits, but he luckily found a repair shop 1KM away. What an experience! We’re looking for more warriors join us in Xi’an! Can’t wait for next ride!

JIM GARFIELD (M & M) participated in the New York City Triathlon Underwear Run and Cheered on the athletes in the New York City Triathlon. Keep an eye out on the Active.com fan page on Facebook for exclusive footage and interviews with underwear participants and race winners, twins Rebbeca and Laural Wassner, who took first and second place in the sweltering race. THANK GOODNESS JIM DIDN’T HAVE PICTURES ATTACHED TO THIS! MR

36 members of the Bothell Office participated in the 3rd Annual Summer Golf Tournament at Walter Hall Golf Course in Everett, Washington.  The winning foursome (Matt Ehrlichman, Executive VP of Strategy, Scott Baisch, Thriva Support, Rick Berggreen, Thriva Implementation, Sid Swartz, Active Educate Sales) shot a four under par; two better than the second place finishers.  The long drive contest winner was Matt Ehrlichman and the closest to pin champion was Dalton Davis, Event Sales.  Part of the proceeds from the tournament went to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.  Everyone in the Bothell Office is looking forward to the fall golf tournament slated for early October.

GIVE A BIG BURNABY SHOUT OUT FOR ActiveX!

This year's event was the Summerfast 10K run in Vancouver on July 17th. It was a beautiful day for a run around Stanley Park for the group and it was for a great cause - Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada. We're a small dedicated group with big hearts and have fundraised about $45 for every km each of us ran.

SCOTT FRIESEN finished with an impressive time of 46:20 and over $1K fundraised! Special props go out to the little Luke Friesen for his impeccable timing - allowing his dad to participate in the event before his grand entrance!

MICHAEL TSAI deserves a big high five for completing his first 10km run after which he says "Maybe I should have started with a shorter distance instead of 10K!"

ALLISON REUTTER did the Vineman ½ Ironman and said the race went great – finished just over 7 hours!  The weather was perfect and the scenery through Healdsburg was gorgeous.  It was so much fun to see so many Active colleagues on the course!

KELLY SCHULTE accomplished her first half ironman!  After having learned how to swim (literally) only 2 years ago, Kelly is now a half ironman!  A fun swim, a challenging bike that included one stop for a popped chain and another stop for a rear flat, and an insanely HOT run…the goal was accomplished!

Matthew Henry (Interaction Designer – ActiveWorks, Bothell, WA) finished the weekend 1-3.  It started off well, with his Nerds beating the Atomic Fireballs in ultimate frisbee, 15-12.  The next day, he had a good hour long run before playing his first soccer match in a good 20 years, which ended in a 0-3 defeat.  Sunday, his Playground Thuggz played a double header and were thoroughly crushed, losing 15-0 and 7-1.  He did manage to score the only run for the team, but also managed to make a sweet face plant on a diving catch.  So close!
