DAVE ALBERGA, CEO with his wife Christine and girls Kate and Emma had an amazing out-of-mobile-phone-range weekend of diving, sailing, and learning about sustainable living on Catalina Island with Jean-Michele Cousteau, and his team from the Ocean Futures Foundation.

MARGARET PATRICK, Account Exec Swimming attended a Super Quarterly in Laguna Niguel for Les Mills fitness instructors.  Throughout the day Saturday I took 6 classes which equal 6 epic hours of exercise.  I got a chance to meet the creator of the classes I teach (they came all the way from New Zealand!) and snag a photo with them after we got nice and sweaty.

ARCH FUSTON reports ActiveX Volunteers at Challenged Athletes Foundation Event.

Saturday night, 13 of the ActiveX San Diego crew, AKA "XSous Chefs", plus a set of parents, and two daughters, catered a dinner event for a Challenged Athletes Foundation athlete training camp. We prepared our soon to be famous jambalaya for the group, doing all the prep work on site. We were a chopping, slicing, stirring MACHINE. The evening was a tremendous success, and comments like "we can tell you've done this before (ha! Yeah, right...)", and "you completely blew away our expectations" were the feedback. The highlight of the night (for me) was when two ActiveXers, Michelle Nation and Bryan Pavin, noticed one of the campers, a woman in her mid-40's, first time triathlete, and a below-the-knee amputee, was sitting alone at a table, crying. Crying because no one was sitting with her. Michelle and Bryan sat with her, later joined by Christy and I, and ended up having a great conversation and rallying her evening. THAT is ActiveX.

The Challenged Athletes Foundation, as well as their athletes, are group of individuals that truly personify the ActiveX core belief of "aspiration and ascension"–providing those with the desire to make positive change the opportunity, the encouragement, and the tools to face whatever physical or emotional challenge they choose. Genuine thanks go out to (in order of the group photo):

BIG thanks goes out to Todd's wife and daughter, Jess's parents, Chris Connors, Natasha Grim, and Christy Fuston for their help as well, ActiveXers by marriage or birth! More good stories like these to come, this IS ActiveX!

DAMIAN STAMM, Associate Product Mgr volunteered as a course marshal for  the LiveSTRONG Challenge in Philly.  The largest event of the tour, the  Philly event has 6,500 participants and raised over $3.1 million over  the two-day event.

PATTI ROSENTHAL, Industry Mgr Cycling had a fun local mountain bike ride in Durango, CO.  Went out with a girlfriend to do the Sale Barn trail single track.

Wildflowers are still blooming with fall coming and colors changing. Girls just wanna have fun!

JIM GARFIELD (M&M) had an epic ride throughout the Santa Monica Mountains. On top of Mulholland Drive I thought I was delirious from lack of water..but no it was true..someone keeps a double hump camel and zebra in their yard…yep welcome to LA.

ALICE PIROGOVSKY hiked up Half Dome in Yosemite with her family this weekend. Her highlight of the trip was running into a mama black bear and her two cubs on the trail. Despite yelling and waving around her arms, the black bear was not scared and got within 10 feet of Alice. The bear followed her as she slowly backed down the trail for 5 minutes until the bear got bored and turned around.

KEVIN BEATTY and MIKE COLEMAN along with 16 other friends, went on a 14 hour deep sea fishing excursion off the coast of San Diego and Mexico.  We went out to the Coronado Islands, with little fishing luck, but had a great time.  We saw several blue whales, hundreds of dolphins, and other marine life. Nice early morning refreshments!

ASHLEY ELLIS attended the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships held in Irvine, CA. The meet is considered to be one of the toughest international swimming competitions outside of the Olympic Games where this was the second time in history that the meet was held in the US.  There were 21 countries and top athletes such as Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin and Ryan Loche. The best part was watching the meet with the wife of Mark Gangloff, who is the American Record holder in the 100 breast and took silver that night.
