DAMIAN STAMM, Product Mgr, Associate raced the Eagleman 70.3 race in Cambridge, MD on Sunday, setting a PR in the process. It was a World Championship race so it was a great field that also included Mirinda Carfrae (who won the women's pro) and had the attendance of Craig Alexander (who was registered but didn't compete due to illness). It's a popular race due to being very similar to Kona (bay open water, flat but occasionally windy no-shade course.) It was a family affair as well with my sister, her boyfriend, and my cousin all racing as well. I was happy with my bike - dropped over 45 minutes from the last time I did a half-ironman - but the run was very challenging - but I still was able to beat my previous time by over 17 minutes so I'm happy.
DAMON MATHEWS participated in the contest, "Six Packs in Footbag 2011", this weekend in San Diego, CA. This was a fun way to get in shape with the goal of being fit by summer. Damon beat out the current World Footbag Freestyle Champion Milan "Megatron" Benda from the Czech Republic to take the top prize.... An Angelos Double Bacon Cheeseburger!!! Here are some footbag freestyle highlights from the event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQBnkNJSvQ8
JAY LEE, Senior Software Engineer Thriva rode a 50 mile loop this weekend to train for the Seattle Century. After accidentally riding onto the I-90 expressway and freaking out a few drivers and myself, I found a nice scenic resting spot on the shores of Lake Washington for this picture. I will be riding with Livestrong Seattle in the upcoming Seattle Century.
MICHAEL STRICKLAND (ActiveWorks, San Diego): I ran the Camp Pendleton Mud Run for the second time on Saturday, this time talking family members into joining me. I was thrilled to see my sister (pictured here) post the following on Facebook later that day: "Most fun I've ever had in a race! I can't wait for next year!" I have to agree with her....
JEANNIE M. FREIS, Associate Product Manager, RegOnline ran the Sunrise Stampede (short and sweet 2Miler) and took 3rd place in my age group. I was 39 seconds short of a mug (top 2 got mugs).
TOBY GUILLETTE Saturday morning I raced and won the YMCA Bay 2 Bay Regatta 5-mile sit inside kayak event that goes from Shelter Island to Tidelands Park on Coronado. It was only my third time in the boat so I must thank ActiveX for the core strength! Then after a little nap I traveled out to the Cleveland National Forest and paced a friend for 28 miles who was racing the San Diego 100 Mile Endurance Run, from mile 73 to 100, which took us from midnight Saturday to 9:15am on Sunday.
SHANNON WINEMAN (PM, San Diego) and her family had a fun and successful day at the second annual Philip Rivers 5K at Liberty Station. We all ran but my oldest daughter (14) took 1st place in the 13-17 yr old girls category while my youngest daughter (8) took 2nd place in the 1-8 yr old group.
JANAY JESPERSEN, (Human Resources) spent Sunday morning hiking with friends and her dog in Mill Creek Canyon in Draper, Utah. It took about two hours to go three miles but the view and the smell of the pine was well worth it.
AUSTIN BRAATEN #320 participated in the Fremont 5k and Briefcase Relay on Friday afternoon. Definitely a new experience running a race in business attire but a great way to end the work week!
ERIC MA, Online Marketing Analyst / ActiveXChampion did a 5 miles night run with 7 ActiveXers (Colin Li, Wesley Wang, Lynn Lin, Helen Kou, Steven Xue, Tony Chen and Martin Zhu) and also an ActiveXkid at the Friday night, it was the first night run for the team this year, it’s very hot but they all finished it! Very inspiring to run with them, really like a family.
PAUL MCLURE, Account Mgr ran the Philip Rivers 5K on Saturday. Philip Rivers ran in the event this year - with the starting announcement “OK, now no one trip Philip Rivers” – classic! I am pictured with Charger lineman Nick Hardwick. On Sunday I participated in the ActiveX mock tri in Coronado with a great group.
ASHLEY ELLIS competed in my first long course swim meet in 9 years in Fullerton, CA. To my surprise Janet Evans & Ed Moses - two world record holders were also at this master swim meet. I swam the 100 free, 100 back, 50 breast & 50 fly, taking first place for all women age levels in these races. The goal of the meet was to get some times recorded as I have two other meets that I will be competing in this summer. My dad competed in his first Active event in Florida. We raced in a 6 mile SUP [Stand Up Paddling] race. He took 1st for the 35 year old and older age group. Everyone is calling him Tim Ironman Ellis as at 59 years old he smoked the youngins the last two miles. He completed the 6 miles in 1 hour and 19 minutes. So proud of my rock star dad!!!
DANI OLIVER, Account Coordinator, Online Marketing hiked in Mission Trails this weekend in San Diego Sunday morning. As you can see myself and my friend Laura are quite proud of ourselves for making it to the top.
JIM HARNAGE, Nashville, TN ran the Murfreesboro, TN Doughboy 5k challenge. He is the one in the left.
The Media + Marketing Promotions Team in San Diego had a great time hiking Torrey Pines on Friday afternoon. Despite the heavy fog, it was an excellent team building activity and a great way to celebrate several key campaign achievements.
Thanks! Victoria Tinsley, Senior Account Manager
