Can This Team USA Beat the World?

This definitely isn't the amazing 1992 Dream Team. It's not at the level of the 2008 Redeem Team either.

That said, Team USA can still bring it.

While the World Basketball Festival overall is a celebration of basketball's impact on the entire world, the four days of festivities in New York City will be highlighted by appearances by the USA men's national team. That includes a USA Basketball showcase at Radio City Music Hall on August 12th, and the USA-France exhibition game at Madison Square Garden on August 15th.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski is back after leading USA to the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. His team, at this stage, is much different and much younger.

Take a look at the 15 finalists for Team USA. This list will be cut down to 12 before the FIBA World Championships begin Aug. 28 in Turkey, but these 15 will be in New York to take part in the World Basketball Festival as well as an intense six-day training regimen:

Chauncey Billups

Tyson Chandler

Stephen Curry

Kevin Durant

Rudy Gay

Eric Gordon

Danny Granger

Jeff Green

Andre Iguodala

Kevin Love

JaVale McGee

Lamar Odom

Rajon Rondo

Derrick Rose

Russell Westbrook

The first thing I see is youth. Billups and Odom are the only two guys in their 30s, and five players--Durant (the star of the team), Rose Gordon, Love and Westbrook--are just 21 years old. Steph Curry is just 22.

What do you think? Does this team have the talent to roll through an international grind, which starts with France at MSG, features three more exhibition games before opening up in the Worlds against Croatia?
