What's more elite than playing in the NBA? Heck, what's more elite than being an NBA All-Star?
How about having your own shoe?
Ever since Michael Jordan took the basketball shoe world by storm in the mid-1980s with his iconic Air Jordans, shoe companies like Nike and adidas have invested millions of dollars in superstar athlete endorsement contracts, with a select few of those athletes getting their own shoe line.
Kevin Durant, the inspiration behind the Nike KD1 shoe line first released last year, has a secret to tell you: Having your own shoe is AWESOME.
Durant answered tons of questions at a media gathering Tuesday morning at Radio City Music Hall. One thing he was specifically asked about was his shoes.
How much input did he have in the design? Not a lot, he admits.
"Honestly, I was just happy to have my own shoe," Durant said.
Hey, we believe that.
Durant loves the way his shoes turned out--and now, he can join the greats of the last 25 years like Jordan, Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant who have their own shoes to show off.
"I trust those guys at Nike," Durant said. "They did a good job."
