Well, I did it. I bought a Polar F6 heart rate monitor and I LOVE it!! What's great is that the treadmill picks up the signal from the chest belt so I can view percentage on the watch and bpm on the treadmill. I used it on a walk at a local nature area and it felt so great to see what my body was doing while I was exercising. I was able to adjust my speed in accordance with my HR; it was terrific!
When I first started looking at ways to track my heart rate I didn't want to get something that used a chest belt. I didn't want to have to deal with extra equipment so I got a watch with a touch pad. It works okay, but the watch itself is kind of sketchy and will sometimes reboot for no reason. After having used the HR monitor on the treadmill I see why the chest belt is invaluable.
Tomorrow I'm planning on a walk using the HR limits on the treadmill and maybe going for a walk with W if the weather is nice.

Got my new sports br4 today and it worked great! I did the interval training again today and I feel great. I started to feel sore towards the end, but not overly so.

Did the interval workout today. I warmed up for 5 min, then alternated jogging for 1 min and walking for 3 min, 5 times so my total workout was 25 minutes. The HR strap wasn't working today so I wasn't able to monitor my heart rate. I think I just wasn't able to position the strap right on my chest. Part of the problem was my sports br4 being too small. I ordered another one last week that will hopefully fit better. Nursing is fun :p your b00b$ can't fit into any normal sports equipment! Sorry for the TMI....of course I doubt anybody is reading this. I'm mostly doing it for my own record to keep me motivated.

Feeling good!
I worked this morning so I didn't get around to my workout until, um, 9PM. Hopefully I'll be able to go to sleep without much trouble. I used the HR Control which was great! I was able to program the treadmill to keep me around 140 bpm which was perfect. I really felt like I was getting a workout and I was walking at around 3.8mph.
Tomorrow I'll attempt to do an interval workout. I've been afraid to do it because I'd been so out of shape, but I'm feeling more confident now.

Huh, it's 4/4 and it's my 4th entry.
I tried something new today; I used the HR strap that came with the treadmill so I could monitor myself visually. It was so much easier than checking my watch every minute or so. I was able to adjust my speed in concert with my HR so I could stay in the 135-150 range. I'm going to have to use the strap next time I workout. I have been thinking about getting a Polar Watch, but I'll hold off for now.

Well, I skipped yesterday. I just could not get my butt in gear and get going! I actually fell asleep while watching TV. K was having quiet time and W was taking a nap and I just laid my head down.
Today I walked for 20 minutes and W enjoyed the swing for the first time. I kind of felt bad having him watch me while I walked in place. As if the kid didn't think I was crazy enough as it is! I feel pretty good. So far I haven't been sore after walking even though my heart rate has been in the 60-80% range.

I had my second child in october and I want to get back in shape. Now I just need to find the time to walk/jog, take care of my kids and keep my house from falling apart.
