Where has the time gone?
It seems like just yesterday we were wrapping up the tour, packing up our wardrobe cases and cleaning out our bunks, now we’re four months away from 2009 and even less away from my third run in the park, Holy Cow!!
We made it back home from Texas just in time to get the boys registered for school… That’s another thing I got a fourth grader, a second grader, a grand - son and another grand - baby on the way, am I supposed to be running marathons? Is that good for me?
HELL YEAH!!
I love it! Everything about it! The shoes, the shorts, the sweat, the pain, the feeling of accomplishment you get when you finish that long one. I love it!
Any way, the big guys are back in school I’ve been doing some writing and some running trying to catch up on the honey do list. I have realized that I will never catch up completely but if I can just do enough in a day to make me feel like I’m making advances then that’s all right with me.
Basically, enjoying fatherhood.
Funny thing did happen the other morning while I was getting my long one. I was running along, it was still pre-dawn so everything is a shadow and out of the corner of my eye I see this skunk and she’s just running…I say she but it could have indeed been a he…it was pre-dawn remember? But any way that skunk and I ran together for a good 400 meters. It was only about 10 feet to my left and it had her tail up and all I kept thinking about was first I gotta beat that skunk and second that episode of The Partridge Family where the skunk get in the bus and they check in to their fancy hotel of course everyone holding their noses and scoffing. But they get to their rooms and order up all this tomato soup and they all take baths in tomato soup. Something about the image of the Partridge Family in tomato soup that just doesn’t sit well with me.
Any hoo, I’ll stop I gotta go, life awaits and time won’t. Have a great day and whenever you begin to doubt your spirit and start talking yourself out of reaching your goal do what I do…

Hi Deano!
Good to see you are getting back into the routine of fatherhood, writing and running. I had the wonderful privilege to run in Jen McDevitt's 5K, a few weeks ago. I have to say it felt good to cross that finish line! It was great to see all of the families participating together for a great cause.
I remember that episode of the Partridge Famiy with the skunk incident. ( Being a preteen girl at that time, I was a huge fan of the show, especially of David Cassidy!)
I too, returned to school this week and always look forward to a new school year. It's always refreshing to greet the students in the gym the first day. They always have so much to tell me about their summer vacations. These children are all so special to me.
Glad you didn't get "sprayed" by that skunk. That would have been nasty!
