Los Angeles Marathon officials announced that registration for the 25th Annual Los Angeles Marathon opens at 12:01 a.m. (PDT) Tuesday, September 1. The race~~which will be run on Sunday, March 21, 2010~~will highlight the icons of Los Angeles on a route race management has named "Stadium to the Sea."

Typically a late February/early March race, the L.A. Marathon is moving to Memorial Day for 2009. This article in the L.A. Times takes a look at the pros and (mostly) cons of the change, particularly the fact that a late season race date means warmer weather and potentially slower times.

What do you think? Are you less likely to register for the L.A. Marathon now that the date is later than usual? Or are you excited to kick off summer with a run in SoCal's City of Angels?
