Southeast Region

By Ryan Rohde
Southeast Correspondent

Florida

Florida Game of the Week
Armwood Hawks (5-0 overall, State PR: 99.70, Class Rank: 1) vs. Tampa Bay Tech Titans (5-0, PR: 87.68, Rank: 3): Armwood is one of the top teams in the nation while Tamp Bay tech is undefeated. This has the makings to be a classic in the Tampa Area. It’s hard to fathom that an undefeated team can be an underdog, but that’s what you get when you face Armwood. Perhaps Tamp Bay Tech can use that to their advantage this weekend.

Glades Central Raiders (5-0, PR: 93.42, Rank: 1) vs. Cardinal Gibbons Redskins (2-2, PR: 59.87, Rank: 37): Top ranked Glades Central faces another tough task this week against district foe Gibbons after beating 4A opponent Dwyer, 6-0, after four OT’s last Saturday.

Kissimmee Osceola Kowboys (3-2, PR: 61.52, Rank: 32) vs. Jenkins Eagles (2-3, PR: 48.31, Rank: 54): Perhaps not a headliner in the rankings, but state runner-up Osceola has a chance to start off district play on a strong note after two early season losses.

Charlotte Fighting Tarpons (4-0, PR: 86.24, Rank: 9) vs. Manatee Hurricanes (4-1, PR: 75.91, Rank: 13): Charlotte looks to stay undefeated and keep climbing up the polls against a formidable 4-1 Manatee team.

Kathleen Red Devils (4-1, PR: 77.68, Rank: 14) vs. Ridge Boltz (4-0, PR: 82.41, Rank: 11): Ridge may not get much respect with local prognosticators, but the squad is still undefeated so far. Meanwhile, this is almost must-win contest for Kathleen – who already have a loss in the district to a good Lake Wales team.

Baker County Wildcats (5-0, PR: 85.69, Rank: 8) vs. Jackson Tigers (5-0, PR: 89.47, Rank: 5): Two undefeated Top 10 squads square off for the top spot in District 3 and, of course, major bragging rights.

Miramar Patriots (4-0, PR: 90.09, Rank: 1) vs. Cypress Bay Lightning (3-1, PR: 78.22, Rank: 12): The Pats – the #1 ranked Class 6A squad -- face off against a good Cypress Bay team looking for redemption after being blown out in Texas by powerhouse Katy earlier this season.

Boyd Anderson Cobras (1-3, PR: 48.56, Rank: 50) vs. South Plantation Paladins (3-1, PR: 72.24, Rank: 17): Anderson sits at 1-3, but they still pose as a threat. The squad’s three losses came against highly ranked opponents. Meanwhile, South Plantation’s only loss came against No. 1 Aquinas. This should be a good one with Anderson in do or die time and Plantation hoping to keep the ball rolling.

Georgia

Georgia Game of the Week
Lowndes Vikings (6-0, State PR: 94.98, Class Rank: 2) vs. Valdosta Wildcats (4-2, PR: 68.72, Rank: 23): Throw out the records when these two cross “Title” town rivals square off. This weekend, the winningest team in history will attempt to end its recent slump against the second ranked Vikings. Look for Lowndes running back and Florida commit Greg Reid to have another monster game like he did last week against Northside. Also expect 10,000 plus in attendance at Bazmore-Hyder Stadium.

Coffee County Trojans (6-0, PR: 92.09, Rank: 5) vs. Northside Eagles (5-1, PR: 81.84, Rank: 11): This is the second week in a row that Northside will be facing a Top 5 opponent. The Eagles are looking to bounce back after a 24-7 pasting by Lowndes last week. All the while, Coffee County is rolling at 6-0. It should be very interesting to see how the Trojans respond against their first stellar opponent of the season.

Walton Raiders (5-0, PR: 88.52, Rank: 7) vs. Milton Eagles (4-1, PR: 75.76, Rank: 17): This matchup is a battle of two solid teams. While Walton is cruising at 5-0, Milton had only one slip-up in the early stages of the season. This contest might be a close one, perhaps even a one-score contest that comes down to the last possession.

Banneker Trojans (4-1, PR: 78.36, Rank: 13) vs. Villa Rica Wildcats (4-1, PR: 75.64, Rank: 13): Only one of these 13th ranked teams will earn their fifth win of the season this weekend. Banneker has won four straight and will look to keep its momentum going.

Chamblee Bulldogs (4-1, PR: 77.05, Rank: 9) vs. SW DeKalb (4-0, PR: 87.55, Rank: 6): Chamblee’s only loss came to a tough Marist team by one, while SW Dekalb has been dominating the competition, holding opponents to just nine total points all season with three shutouts.

Cairo Syrupmakers (4-0, PR: 93.98, Rank: 1) vs. Peach County Trojans (4-1, PR: 77.32, Rank: 8): The No. 1- ranked Syrupmakers battle a real solid Peach County team. This will be a tough test for Cairo as they try to stay on top of the polls.

Alabama

Alabama Game of the Week
Hoover Buccaneers (5-1 overall, State PR: 81.62, Class Rank: 13) vs. Mountain Brook Spartans (6-0, PR: 95.06, Rank: 1): Hoover faces arguably its toughest challenge of the season in Mountain Brook on Friday. A win here against the No. 1 Spartans could set them up nicely for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Mountain Brook is on top of our polls and needs this win to prove they deserve to stay at the summit.

Stanhope Elmore Mustangs (5-1, PR: 82.11, Rank: 11) vs. Prattville Lions (5-1, PR: 91.68, Rank: 4): Stanhope Elmore has been crushing opponents left and right this year with the squad’s lone loss coming in a shutout to a dynamic Wetumpka team. Prattville continues to dominate its Alabama competition. Seeing that Wetumpka fell to Prattville, 31-0, earlier this season, Stanhope Elmore could be in for a long night.

Mckenzie Tigers (6-0, PR: 77.53, Rank: 8) vs. Brantley Bulldogs (6-0, PR: 83.21, Rank: 4): Both teams come in undefeated and have been rolling through their schedules. This is a battle for 1A supremacy. Look for a tight contest that comes down to a final possession in this one.

Virginia

Virginia Game of the Week
Phoebus Phantoms (6-0, PR: 96.50, Class Rank: 1) vs. Hampton Crabbers (6-0, PR: 86.33, Rank: 4): These crosstown rivals have smashed their competition thus far. Both teams enter with 6-0 records and have been cruising heading into this game. The winner will undoubtedly be #1 in Virginia Division 5 football. No matter what the final score says though, these two are bound to meet again in the playoffs.

Battlefield Bobcats (4-0, PR: 80.92, Rank: 6) vs. Liberty Eagles (3-1, 68.17, Rank: 15): Battlefield is undefeated and looks to keep the winning streak going, but they will likely have its hands full against a Liberty team that has put up 41 or more points in three of four total games this season.

Woodbridge Vikings (5-0, 83.81, Rank: 5) vs. Potomac Panthers (4-0, PR: 79.02, Rank: 7): Woodbridge enters having handled each of its opponents so far this season. Potomac also comes in undefeated, but winning its games by a closer margin. This one should go down to the wire as both teams want to keep their records unblemished.

North Carolina

Independence Patriots (5-1, State PR: 92.42, Class Rank: 3) vs. Ardrey Kell (3-2, PR: 62.30, Rank: 1): Ardrey Kell is coming off back-to-back losses against top ranked teams and face a third this weekend.

South Granville Vikings(6-0, PR: 82.20, Rank: 9) vs. Webb Warriors (5-1, PR: 76.58, Rank: 18): Two Top 20 teams meet in this highly-anticipated matchup. Webb’s only loss came against a powerful Bunn team, while South Granville continues to reach for the top the polls.

North Carolina Game of the Week
Seventy-First Falcons (6-0, PR: 93.00, Rank: 3) vs. Britt Buccaneers (5-1, 83.69, Rank: 7): In this Top 10 battle, Seventy-First looks to keep its undefeated streak alive but faces its first true test thi
Weekend Preview for October 9-11

By Brett Manney
SportsPower Western Correspondent

Western Region

Arizona

Gilbert Tigers (5-1, State PR: 76.73, Rank: 9) vs. Hamilton Huskies (4-1, State PR: 75.11, Rank: 10): Gilbert head coach Jesse Parker is one win away from tying the Arizona state high school football record for most wins (308). The first Fiesta League game for both teams could decide the favorite in the league.

Queen Creek Bulldogs (4-1, PR: 79.60, Rank: 11) vs. Coronado Dons (5-0, PR: 85.32, Rank: 5): The Dons look to stay unbeaten behind their athletic offense while the Bulldogs try not to fall to 0-2 in the league. This pivotal East Sky league game between two rivals will most likely be a shootout.

California

Fowler Redcats (4-0, State PR: 77.19, Section Rank: 12) vs. Corcoran Panthers (3-0, PR: 80.35, Rank: 8): Neither team has really been tested this season, but Corcoran’s stingy defense has yet to give up a single point in its three wins. In a battle of unbeatens it will be interesting to see if the Redcats can score on Panthers defense that has yet to yield any points.

Lawndale Cardinals (3-0, PR: 78.61, Rank: 42) vs. Lynwood Knights (2-0-1, PR: 77.78, Rank: 44): After tying in its first game, the Knights have won two in a row and look to continue the streak Friday behind a strong secondary unit. Meanwhile, the Cardinals look to establish their running game early and stay unbeaten.

Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits (3-0, PR: 99.50, Rank: 1) vs. St. Bonaventure Seraphs (4-0, PR: 98.48, Rank: 1): This must see game between two of the top teams in the state will likely go down to the wire. The Jackrabbits will be led by quarterback Morgan Fennell in addition to their stellar defense, which has only given up just 24 points in four games. Meanwhile, the defending CIF State D-III champions are led by RB/S and USC recruit Patrick Hall. This game features two teams competing for bragging rights as the best team in California.

Los Alamitos Griffins (4-0, PR: 88.93, Rank: 13) vs. Narbonne (Nathaniel) Gauchos (4-0, PR: 87.27, Rank: 1): The last nonleague game for both teams could be a big boost heading into their respective league play. The Griffins will be led by Colorado recruit Clark Evans, who has been torching defenses all season with his strong arm. Meanwhile, the Gauchos have an intimidating defensive line and USC recruit Bryon Moore will likely be roaming the secondary to try and stop the Griffins potent passing attack.

Westview Wolverines (3-0, PR: 80.05, Rank: 9) vs. Valley Center Jaguars (3-0, PR: 93.40, Rank: 7): Both teams look for their fourth win and each have huge games looming in the next few weeks. The Wolverines’ surprising offense has been scorching opponents so far. The Jaguars are coming off an impressive win over Mater Dei and led by their senior quarterback Tyler Bernard and tight end Jeremy Dozier.

Notre Dame Knights (4-0, PR: 91.41, Rank: 7) vs. Servite Friars (3-1, PR: 80.40, Rank: 35): The Friars have one of the toughest schedules in the state and it continues with a game against the undefeated Knights. Friars two-time all-league pick Greg Portis runs well behind mammoth right tackle Matthew Jakubiec. The Knights look to stay undefeated with help from their solid linebackers against arguably the best team they have faced all season.

Taft (William Howard) Toreadors (4-0, PR: 86.90, Rank: 3) vs. Serra Cavaliers (4-0, PR: 91.57, Rank: 6): Two very talented and speedy teams go head-to-head in this must-watch game. The Cavaliers are led by punishing tailback Carl Winston and explosive returner George Farmer. Taft counters with running back DJ Morgan and its stingy defense, which has given up just 33 points in four games, including two shutouts.

Colorado

Platte Canyon Huskies (4-0, State PR: 91.37, Class Rank: 2) vs. Kent Denver Sun Devils (5-0, PR: 87.25, Rank: 5): This skirmish features two unbeaten teams with high octane offenses. The Huskies have not scored fewer than 35 points in their victories with AJ Melillo and Dillon Whisman carrying the load on offense. The Sun Devils counter with Tyler Jackson, who has 763 yards rushing and seven touchdowns, along with Patrick Murray on defense.

Mullen Mustangs (5-1, PR: 88.69, Rank: 8) vs. Cherry Creek Bruins (5-0, PR: 93.76, Rank: 3): T.J. Shantz is a jack of all trades on both sides of the ball for the undefeated Bruins. The only loss for the Mustangs so far was to nationally ranked Rockhurst from Missouri. Mullen’s Ryan Hewitt is a Stanford recruit and Alex Logan is a shutdown cornerback – both will likely be game-changers this weekend.

Rocky Mountain Lobos (7-0, PR: 89.90, Rank: 7) vs. Poudre Impalas (6-0, PR: 93.18, Rank: 4): The Lobos -- one of the most feared teams in Colorado – feature dynamic quarterback Bryan Peters, who has yet to throw an interception this season, along with Jake Stewart, who is a dangerous return man and wide receiver. The Impalas have not faced much competition this year as evidebced by their average scoring margin of over three touchdowns. This shapes up to be one highly anticipated game between two of the elite teams in Colorado.

Wray Eagles (6-0, PR: 80.76, Rank: 3) vs. Yuma Indians (6-0, PR: 82.14, Rank: 6): Another undefeated matchup in Colorado pits the Class 1A Eagles and the 2A Yuma Indians. Both teams have first year quarterbacks, yet each has been punishing opponents so far in the season.

Minnesota

Fosston Greyhounds (6-0, State PR: 84, Class Rank: 4) vs. Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Ponies (5-0, PR: 78.92, Rank: 6): The Greyhounds are coming off a 44-point win last week and hope to continue their unbeaten streak against a formidable Ponies squad. The Ponies have had some close games this season and expect another tough one against the Greyhounds.

New Mexico

Sandia Matadors (5-0, State PR: 88.96, Class Rank: 3) vs. Eldorado Eagles (5-0, State PR: 94.51, Rank: 2): This battle between two 5A-Five schools on Friday night should prove to set off some fireworks. The Matadors enter the contest featuring electrifying sophomore running back Marcus Washington and big-time wide receiver Tanner Ireland. It appears that the Eagles have the talented secondary to limit Tanner and go for their sixth win.

North Dakota

Fargo South Bruins (4-1, State PR: 79.39, Class Rank: 1) vs. West Fargo (5-1, PR: 76.01, Rank: 3): Two of the top teams in the state battle for bragging rights this Friday in an Eastern Dakota Conference game. West Fargo will have its hands full against the defending North Dakota 3A champions.

Oregon

Hillsboro Spartans (5-1, State PR: 78.63, Class Rank: 6) vs. Sherwood Bowman (5-1, PR: 83.13, Rank: 3): Two Northwest Oregon conference teams look to pick up their sixth win respectively. The Spartans -- led by first-year coach Zak Hill – will likely rely on the power running game of Mikkel Smythe. But the Spartans will have their hands full as the Bowmen have a five-game winning streak and a stingy defense that’s given up just 31 points through six games.

South Dakota

Stickney/ Mt Vernon Raiders (1-0, State PR: 86.88, Class Rank: 1) vs. Gregory School Gorillas (1-0, PR: 82.15, Rank: 1): Each team is trying to stay perfect and not fall to 1-1 on the season. The Gorillas won by 50 points against the Parker School in their first game. The Raiders beat a solid Chester team 28-12.

Utah

Layton Lancers (6-1, State PR: 88.55, Class Rank: 3) vs. Syracuse Titans (6-0, State PR: 89.16, Rank: 2): The Lancers look for their seventh win against the undefeated Syracuse Titans. The Lancers are led by arguably the best 1-2 running back combo in the state in LaVaughn Jackson and Karl Williams. Meanwhile, the Titans will rely on their ability to force turnovers in this highly-anticipated matchup.

Cottonwood Colts(7-0, PR: 95.35, Rank: 2) vs. East Leopards (6-1, PR: 78.28, Rank: 5): This game will be a tight one between two squads who enter with 4-0 records in the 4A Region 6. The Colts will rely on John Martinez to set holes for all-state running back Isi Sofele. The Leopards, winners of their last five games, have athletic quarterback Danny Tuai, who has made a smooth transition to quarterback from safety last year.

Washington

Lake Stevens Vikings(3-1, State PR: 72.67, Class Rank: 22) vs. Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks (4-0, PR: 85.90, Rank: 7): This crucial Wesco North conference game features the Vikings against conference leader Tomahawks. Tomahawks running back Austin Denton is coming off a 233 yard rushing performance last week. The Vikings spread offense is fueled by quarterback Nick Baker, who had 396 yards passing, five touchdowns and no interceptions in last week’s 50-49 overtime loss to Jackson.

Curtis Vikings (4-1, PR: 77.41, Rank: 13) vs. Puyallup Vikings (4-1, PR: 74.84, Rank: 19): It’s a battle of the Vikings Friday night as the Curtis Vikings clash with the Puyallup Vikings – two teams striving for their fifth wins. Curtis linebacker Dan Stockdale looks to help clog holes and lead the defense against a high octane Puyallup offense. Puyallup’s only loss was by one point to undefeated Graham-Kapowsin.

Wisconsin

Brodhead/ Juda Cardinals (6-0, State PR: 83.24, Class Rank: 29) vs. Big Foot Chiefs (6-0, PR: 90.36, Rank: 5): This game is what many people have been looking forward to all season as two conference foes battle for first place in the Rocky Valley Conference. Led by running back Ethan Douglas, the Cardinals look to stay perfect. The Chiefs are led by offensive tackle Travis Frederick (6-5, 310 lbs.), who opens massive holes for the running game which features two backs that average over 100 yards rushing.

Stevens Point Area Panthers (5-1, PR: 80.40, Rank: 33) vs. Everest Evergreens (6-0, PR: 89.43, Rank: 12): The Evergreens are looking to stay flawless in Wisconsin Valley Conference play against foe Stevens Point Area. The undefeated Evergreens feature all-state kicker Nick LaPorte but lost stud linebacker Konrad Zagzebski to a torn ACL last week. Meanwhile the Panthers have the top-ranked offense in the conference and are seeking their fourth-straight title.

Brett Manney’s Top Ten Games for Oct. 9-11

1. Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits (3-0) vs. St. Bonaventure Seraphs (4-0)
2. Los Alamitos Griffins (4-0) vs. Narbonne (Nathaniel) Gauchos ( 4-0)
3. Gilbert Tigers (5-1) vs. Hamilton Huskies (4-1)
4. Sandia Matadors (5-0) vs. Eldorado Eagles ( 5-0)
5. Brodhead/ Juda Cardinals (6-0) vs. Big Foot Chiefs (6-0)
6. Layton Lancers (6-1) vs. Syracuse Titans (6-0)
7. Rocky Mountain Lobos (7-0) vs. Poudre Impalas (6-0)
8. Taft (William Howard) Toreadors (4-0) vs. Serra Cavaliers (4-0)
9. Platte Canyon Huskies ( 4-0) vs. Kent Denver Sun Devils ( 5-0)
10. Lake Stevens Vikings ( 3-1) vs. Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks ( 4-0)
Paris-Tours or Hawaiian Ironman?

While hardcore pro bike race fans will be yawning their way through the sprintfest that is Paris-Tours, the most interesting event this weekend will most likely be the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships. There are several reasons for the interest. Retired pro cyclists such as Kai Hundertmark and Laurent Jalabert have been putting in some respectable performances in Kona. They aren't contenders for the win, but they are clearly capable of turning a few heads.

If you aren't a die-hard European pro racing fan, or even if you are, you have to be impressed by the rides the top pros clock on the 112-mile bike leg. That is especially true if the rider(s) are poor swimmer because as they say in Kona, 'a minute in the swim is worth five minutes on the bike.' Of course, they are referring to the notorious trade winds which blow predominately north to south. Since the first part of the bike leg is heading north and the winds start to come up about an hour or two after the race start, the quicker you can get out of the water and onto the bike the less headwind you will have to deal with on the drag to the mid-ride turnaround at Havi.

Having ridden on the Queen K, I have to say that the least amount of time you have to spend on that incredibly boring stretch of road, the better mental state you will be in when it is time to marshal energy and motivation for the marathon. Sure, triathloning, especially since it is an endurance sport, is all about overcoming pain, but coping with the boredom which is the Queen K is also a big factor.

It seems like in recent years, the Hawaiian Ironman has been won on the run, but the bike leg has played a role in the outcome as well. Clearly, a major mechanical or a bad crash can end an athlete's chances, but if the winds are bad or the heat really picks up, things can get ugly on the bike.

So, if you find yourself nodding off as the pro peloton lopes along on its way from Paris to Tours, check out what's happening at Kona. The pros on the Big Island can ride pretty fast was well.
Introduce ourselves

Hello everyone! I will go ahead and tell a little about myself too. I live in Chandler, AZ and I am a manager at Trader Joe's (Ahwatukee location). I do work alot but I find time to go to the gym (La Fitness) and cycle on Saturday's with my husband James and some friends for a local bike club. (Phoenix metro bike club) Also, me and my friends do enjoy going to happy hour at various places quite frequent. For example, Kona at the Santan is a spot for us.

What I have coming up? I am running in the 5k next Saturday 10/18 for the Frank Kush foundation at Tempe town lake. Then on November 8th is the Breast Cancer Walk, which Trader Joe's has multiple teams put together from a few stores. Then on November 22nd is the Tour de Tucson. They have a 109, 80, 66, or 35 mile route depending upon each individuals endurance level. I will be doing the 66 miler and my husband and his brother Herb will do the 109. This will be my first year doing this but my husband and Herb did it last year and they did it in 5hours and 10 and 20 minutes. If you do it under 5 hours you receive platinum, which they are striving for this year. Is anyone interested in joining me in any of these events? Also, I look forward to hearing about other events from others so I can possibly attend.

Hope to hear from everyone soon! Shelley
1st month of training

For my 26th birthday I decided to swim Alcatraz without a wetsuit. For those who are not from the San Francisco Bay area that is a 1.5 mile swim in the SF bay. It begins on the east side of the island prison and lands you in aquatic park, the water temp was 61 degrees. I have always been adventurous and I have always been over weight. It was on my life's to do list so I figured lets celebrate in style, I mean I went sky diving at 25 why not do what was thought impossible and escape from the rock. So I trained 1 day a week for a month and did the swim. I felt great, like I was healthy and nothing was wrong with me. I mean if I could do a difficult swim like that I must be in great shape. I was WRONG! A blood test during my anual physical reviled that not only am I more than 70 pounds over weight but my cholesterol is about 2 points away from lipator. Crisis mode, I have never been able to stick to any diet or exercise plan if it was for my health. But I realized I have a lot of grit, and I stick to things when it comes to an event I want to compete in .So lets change the mind set.

I am training for a Half Marathon. I am not on a diet or exercise program, I am training for a half marathon. My thinking is I will get the weight loss and health benefits from the running. I am entered in the Princess Half Marathon at Walt Disney World. The min pacing requirements is 16min mile pace. I figured I might be able to swing that by March 2009. My first month was september. I started small at lunch everyday I took advantage of working at a physical therapy clinic and I used the bike or the elliptical for just 20 min daily. then the next week I increased the time and intensity. After the second week I added walking in to the mix. A friend of mine talked me into doing a walk in the begining of October, so that gave me motivation to keep increasing the mileage as my body would allow. One of my patients told me that if I could run 7 miles then I could definately run a half marathon. My thinking was that this race would be a confidence booster for me. If I can walk 7.45 miles and still have gas in the tank then with some training I should be able to run it. Last week was my race ( oct 5th). I did the Bridge to Bridge 12k. I ran and walked the first 5 miles. I was able to maintain that min pacing requirement for the Disney race for almost five miles. That was huge, going from the couch to being able to almost keep the pace for able a third of the distance. I am using the runner's world smart coach beginners running program to run and crossing training on my non run days. I can now do an hour on the bike or the elliptical. I am going to try and run a 5k in mid november as another confidence booster and see what pacing I can keep in a race situation. Soon I shall post a blog for month 2 and how training is fairing.

Power to weight ratio

More often than not, the avid bicyclists I counsel express concern about the power to weight ratio. As one cyclist, Hal, explained to me. "Nancy, biking is all about the power to weight ratio. I'll be more powerful on my bike if I'm lighter. I really want to lose about 20 pounds so I'll be able to bike faster." I asked this lean man what his wife thought about this idea. He responded, "She thinks I'm crazy." I silently agreed with her; Hal didn't have 20 pounds of excess fat to lose.

I reviewed Hal's eating patterns and made some suggestions to help him ride faster by being better fueled. In his efforts to lose weight, he currently was actively restricting his breakfast and lunch. No wonder he lagged on energy during his late-afternoon bike rides. He thought he was slow because he was weighed too much. I think he was slow because he was underfueled.

I'll see him for a follow-up consultation in a month. If he's like other cyclists, he'll happily report, "I haven't lost any weight, but by eating better, I'm much faster and I've been setting PRs."

After attending the VIP party to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ironman, Dave Scott calls in to talk about his 45-mile morning bike ride and the oft-asked question of how many calories an athlete should take in during the race.
