WOW........what a great weekend!!!!
I am still amazed that I was able to complete a 14 mile run on Saturday. I started off staying the night at a friends house and then running home from there. It was a great course and I really enjoyed it. My course took me down a nice sized hill towards pacific Beach where i hopped on the boardwalk and ran down to Mission bay. From there I cut across to ocean beach and ran down to Dog Beach. I then ran to Sunset Cliffs and followed that all the way down the peninsula. I ended up running back down do my apt. from there. The whole run took me 2:20:00 and i was pretty sore afterwards. I live on the second floor of my complex and had a ton of laundry to do on saturday as well, and although not as nice as an ice bath, having to walk up and down those stairs all day lessened the soreness and the pain i felt Sunday.
Now Sunday was also an incredible day as well! I participated in my first 5K Mud Run and had a lot of fun!!!! I ran it with a really good friend who also captured some awesome video of it with my new flip camera (thanks Active ; )! It was truely amazing seeing everyone covered in mud and having a good time. There were 7 different mud pits this year which I heard was an increase from last year. About 2 miles into the race there was a 500 ft ascension to the top of Calvary Hill. That is what nearly got me! Once at the top though, it was a breeze getting back down and into the last mud pit! race day is really what it is all about! I love the energy and excitement of everyone and the camaraderie that goes along with participating in events like these!
