Even though it wasn't a full 5K, you did a GREAT job Jewyl! It's such an accomplishment that you crossed the finish line--no matter what the distance. I do hope you sign up for a full 5K. Since we're here in San Diego, I would be happy to come down and cheer you on!
Way to Get Active!!
Keep it up.
Great job Jewyl! Love the bit about the old guy! Whatever works to help motivate and keep you going, right? ![]()
Great job! I am running my first "official" race Sunday (the Race Against Domestic Violence). I've only timed myself on a 5k once, about a month ago, and I ran just over 31 minutes but I was running with a hot guy LOL so I am REALLY hoping I can do that well Sunday! If I could break 30 I'd be happiest but I would be happy meeting my unofficial time, too. Great job!
Congratulations on sticking it out and completing the program! Nice job at the 5k, sorry to hear they screwed up on the distance.
You might be amazed at how fast some of the "older" runners can go! The American record for age 80-84 for a 5km RACEWALKING is:
32:43 Jack Starr Florida Athletic Club, Inc. Kingsport, TN 2008-Oct-04
and for running it is: 21:57.88 Ed Benham (81) 1988-Aug-06.
I hope you stick with running, it can be a lot of fun for a long time!
