WHAT: The 5th Annual Ride with the Champions, is a cycling event to benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts. Participants will have the option of completing a 62-Mile Metric Century course, 22-Mile course or a 12-Mile Family Fun Ride.
WHEN: Saturday, August 29, 2009
6:00 a.m. Registration Opens
8:00 a.m. 62-Mile Metric Century Ride begins
10:00 a.m. 22-Mile Course and 12-Mile Family Fun Ride begin
12:00 p.m. Closing Ceremonies and Awards Presentation
WHERE: The race will follow a scenic route along the north shore through Topsfield, Wenham, Hamilton, Beverly, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Essex and Ipswich.
RACE START: Topsfield Fairgrounds, Topsfield, MA
RACE FINISH: Topsfield Fairgrounds, Topsfield, MA
COURSE DISTANCE: Options include 62-mile, 22-mile and 12-mile components
WHO: Nearly 300 competitive and casual bike riders, as well as family, friends, spectators and supporters are expected to participate. People of all athletic abilities will come together in support of the programs and services of Special Olympics Massachusetts.
WHY: This is the last big ride of the year. All proceeds from Ride with the Champions will help fund uniforms, equipment, year-round training and competition costs for local Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes.
HOW: To register, go to www.ridewiththechampions.org or call 1-888-767-RACE. Participants can enter as individuals or as a team. Individual registration is $25.00. The fundraising minimum for individuals to ride is $350, with desirable fundraising incentives at higher levels. Don’t have a bike but still want to ride? SOMA is teaming up with Urban AdvenTours to provide on-site bike rentals for all ages.
