Bonnie!!!!

Posted by sundbeam Aug 26, 2008

It was raining last night when it was time to go running, so I went my gym and used the eliptical machine. I started out thinking of just using it until the people who were hanging out around the treadmill left, but by then it was about 15 minutes that I had been on it, so I decided to stay there for a few more minutes.  Then Dancing Queen came on my ipod and it totally inspired me to push a little harder and keep at it.  By this time, my body was completely warmed up and it wasn't so hard.  By now I'm bobbing my head and lipsyncing like there's no tomarrow!  More people came in, and I'm pretty sure they were waiting for me to get off the machine, and I was just about to, when I realized, Hey, I'm on a program here!! I can come first!!! (Besides being there first!!) So by now it's been 45 minutes, which was my ultimate hope, but never really thought I could do it.  At 41 minutes Bonnie came on, singing Holding Out For a Hero.  I turned up the music as loud as it went and ran for all it was worth!! I'm all but dancing up there, swinging my head back and forth, feeling the sweat flying everywhere! The entire time all I can do is picture my sister and I singing this song and dancing to this over and over again when we were younger. There's just nothing better than Bonnie!!! It motivated me so much that I turned it back and listened to it again!!! I went 60 minutes on the elyptical machine, never once going beneath 120 strides!!! I have never been in such great shape.  I remember going to the gym with my sister when I was 19 and thinking I was all that because I could do it for almost 30.  Man I felt sooo awesome!  Then I did some weights afterwards.

It was seriously amazing!!! I loved almost every minute!! I never thought I would ever be able to do that for an entire hour! It was sooo cool!!! I'm pretty sure I scared the older couple waiting to use it~ they kept staring at me as I was rocking out(that or they were jealous of my music!!).

I am just loving this exercising.  I just need to get my eating habits in order and then I might actually look like a runner!  My goal is December to lose a bunch of my weight.  I've lost 4 pounds this month.  Which is saying a lot since I've made cookies twice and went to Einstein's for a dozen bagels! So hopefully I'll start eating my fruits and vegetable and lose all my chub.  Either way, it sure is nice knowing I have some serious stamina!!!

I did it!!!!

Posted by sundbeam Aug 23, 2008

I didn't have time to write Monday after running, and I wasn't able to run on Wednesday.  But I ran last night (Friday) and will quickly fill you in on everything.  First off, I DID IT!! I am so proud of myself.  I can now run one mile without stopping!!! On Monday I went with a friend to a high school track and ran a mile, walked a mile, ran a half mile.  It was really nice, not too hard on my knees either.  Last night, because it's getting later in the year, it's already getting darker here.  So by about quarter to eight it's dark and the stars are out.  I went to the track behind my house and did a five minute warm up, quick stretch, and then ran about a mile.  It's hard to be precise on that track. Then I walked a half mile, and then ran over a half mile, probably close to 3/4 of a mile!   I was just going to walk the rest of the way home, but then Bonnie came on, and it's just not right to walk slowly to the great Bonnie Tyler!  So I started running and ran the rest of the way home, at least a quarter mile, listening to Holding Out For A Hero as loud as it can go!!! Man it felt sooo nice!  I just loved it!  My knees are a little sore today, but it was totally worth it!  I have a few days to let them rest anyway.  I was going to run tonight, but they're still a little sore, so I iced them again tonight, and will wait to go running until Monday night.

I was the only one on the track for most of the way.  It was so nice!  Just me, the stars, and my music.  I really just absolutely loved it! Last night as I was coming home, I knew that I had spent all of my energy, that I truly had nothing left to give.  I was out for only an hour, so I am getting faster, which it nice.  When I got home, I went and took a bubble bath and fell asleep in the tub!! It's so nice to go running though, knowing that it's just me I'm trying to beat.  I was thinking of just going a total of two miles, but when I got out there, I knew that it just wasn't right.  You don't get anything in this world unless you fight for it, and put your all into it.  So I did.  I made my first little goal.  I wanted to run a mile straight without stopping by September.  Now my next goal is to run 5 miles straight, but I know I should probably focus on running the 3 miles first.  I'm just loving it though!!

Quite the show

Posted by sundbeam Aug 14, 2008

I have been bad with writing lately.  I ran Monday night and started week three~ run 3 min. walk 3 min.  I pushed so hard that I made myself sick.  I didn't feel good all day Tuesday, but was better on Wednesday. I went with a friend to a high school track last night.  It was easier to run on for sure, but I don't know exactly how far I went, close to 3 miles I think.  I got quite show~ some lightening and the ghetto birds!! There was a search helicopter literally next street over for a while as I ran(man I live in a great area!)

What was nice was it was how dark it was by 7:30 and I was able to run under the bright moon.  It was really fun.  I pushed myself really hard.  I was able to run for 4 minutes at a time.  I'm sure that doesn't sound like much, but seeing where I was less than a month ago, I'm really happy with the results!!  I'm going again on Friday, not sure where but will definitly go.  I have so much fun.  After going for about 15 minutes I really hit a high and do much better after that. I'm right on track for doing a very nice 5K in October.  Hopefully by the beginning of October I'll be able to run at least a mile without stopping.  I'm able to run just over a quarter mile now.

Something kind of crazy happened near the end of my run.  My legs started taking over.  They were almost going faster than I could keep up!  The form was happening all by itself, I was able to go further faster.  It was crazy!  My legs went higher and were really pushing forward.  It was really pretty cool!!

I have been taking 2 Ibprofins before running, I'm going to try only 1 on Friday.  I ice my knees when I get home and haven't had any problems yet, so I'm am sooo happy!! I'm really just loving this so much.  There definitly is  a freedom to it. Knowing that not only am I doing something great for my body, but I'm really pushing my limits.  So much of it is mental~ trying to convince myself I can keep going!! It's just wonderful!!!

I'M BACK!!!

Posted by sundbeam Aug 8, 2008

It's has been far too long since I wrote.  I took almost two weeks off, my knees and ankles hurt sooo bad.  But, they aren't too bad, and I (well my husband) said it was time to just go do it!  So I went on a night run~ WOW!!! It was sooo great! I missed running so bad. I took a few ibprofins and off I went.  It was kind of hard to get going.  I decided to just stick to the road behind my house- it goes out a mile and a half.  It was so nice.  I pushed myself really really hard.  I didn't want to do the treadmill because if my knees started hurting, I knew I'd be too tempted to quit, but as my sister says, you have to make it home!  So I left and went out a mile and a half.  On the way back, I had about a mile to go, and I had no energy left.  I was ready to just walk the entire way back, when thank you Dancing Queen!!!! That song came on and I came alive!!! I ran/walked the entire rest of the way.  I went almost 3.5 miles last night! Man it felt good.  By the time I go home, I had more energy than when I started.  It was soooo great!!!!!!!!! The entire way I got a beautiful lightning show.  It was really pretty to watch.  I made it back a couple of minutes before the monsoonal rains hit.  Oh I just loved it!!! But I have to make myself only do it 3 times a week.  So I'll do it tomarrow and then start up on Mon. Wed. Frid. On Tue and Sat.(take Thur.off?) I'm going to do the fluidity bar~great strength training without hurting the joints (knees!!)

It just feels wonderful to get out there and run.  I absolutely love it!!! I am so glad I found this.  When I got home I iced my knees and ankles and feel really good this morning. It feels great to be back!!!!!!!!! 5K HERE I COME!!!!!

Still a little sore

Posted by sundbeam Aug 5, 2008

Well, I still have to take it easy.  I am doing strength training to get my legs stronger to counteract the pressure on my knees. Hopefully this will help because I want to run!!! But, all in good time. I tried yestarday but my ankles were super sore, so a little more rest and I should be back to running!

I am going to do the fluidity bar today, I love that!  So, everything's okay.  I'm still hoping to be able to do the 5K, but I just have to take it slower.
