I did it!!!!

I didn't have time to write Monday after running, and I wasn't able to run on Wednesday.  But I ran last night (Friday) and will quickly fill you in on everything.  First off, I DID IT!! I am so proud of myself.  I can now run one mile without stopping!!! On Monday I went with a friend to a high school track and ran a mile, walked a mile, ran a half mile.  It was really nice, not too hard on my knees either.  Last night, because it's getting later in the year, it's already getting darker here.  So by about quarter to eight it's dark and the stars are out.  I went to the track behind my house and did a five minute warm up, quick stretch, and then ran about a mile.  It's hard to be precise on that track. Then I walked a half mile, and then ran over a half mile, probably close to 3/4 of a mile!   I was just going to walk the rest of the way home, but then Bonnie came on, and it's just not right to walk slowly to the great Bonnie Tyler!  So I started running and ran the rest of the way home, at least a quarter mile, listening to Holding Out For A Hero as loud as it can go!!! Man it felt sooo nice!  I just loved it!  My knees are a little sore today, but it was totally worth it!  I have a few days to let them rest anyway.  I was going to run tonight, but they're still a little sore, so I iced them again tonight, and will wait to go running until Monday night.

I was the only one on the track for most of the way.  It was so nice!  Just me, the stars, and my music.  I really just absolutely loved it! Last night as I was coming home, I knew that I had spent all of my energy, that I truly had nothing left to give.  I was out for only an hour, so I am getting faster, which it nice.  When I got home, I went and took a bubble bath and fell asleep in the tub!! It's so nice to go running though, knowing that it's just me I'm trying to beat.  I was thinking of just going a total of two miles, but when I got out there, I knew that it just wasn't right.  You don't get anything in this world unless you fight for it, and put your all into it.  So I did.  I made my first little goal.  I wanted to run a mile straight without stopping by September.  Now my next goal is to run 5 miles straight, but I know I should probably focus on running the 3 miles first.  I'm just loving it though!!

Hi! I've seen your blog and your progress and am so excited for you!! Congratulations! Running is one of the best things I ever started doing. January 1st, 2007 I could barely run a mile and October 28, 2007 I ran 26.2! I'm training for three more marathons, but I still continue to set goals and find challenges. Today was my first trail 5K which was rewarding because it was so challenging. Keep up the hard work because you're right, it pays off! And the returns start coming more quickly, too.
