October 2008

Keeping posted...

Posted by azshelley Oct 27, 2008

Hello all, I can see everyone has had a great weekend and Good job to all who participated in SOMA.  I just got back from a fun weekend in Napa and just to let you all know the CK's happy hour didn't turn out but since I am much better prepared and informed I wanted to invite whoever will be available on Nov. 7th around 5pm to have some fun at Teakwoods Tavern in Chandler.  I will keep everyone posted with more details as I receive them.  Also, I have some friends having a Halloween party and I am going to bring some MGD 64 to share with everyone.  I should have some good pictures to post later.  Talk soon, Shelley

Team MGD at SOMA

Posted by krosenlof Oct 26, 2008

Hey everyone!

I was out at SOMA triathlon today taking photos in support of participating friends, and ran into Team MGD64 ambassador Karen. Attached are pictures of her in action! Unfortunately I was behind the camera all day and didn't think to have someone take MY picture even though I wore the black MGD64 jersey.

I think I also saw Dave in the transition area because he was wearing an "Extreme Adventures" jersey, but he ran by too fast for me to get a pic.  And I never did see Tanya during the entire course, although I was looking for her...

Congrats to our Team MGD folks who finished SOMA!

Team MGD 64 Phoenix -

We just wanted to bring to your attention a quick procedure update regarding contacting local facilities in your area to setup happy hours or to inquire as to whether they carry MGD 64.

Moving forward please contact us as soon as you know of a planned happy hour you would like to organize or attend. The local MGD 64 Market Managers would like at least 2 weeks notice so they can work with the local establishment to make your event as fun and valuable as possible. Sample added value opportunities include: signage within the account, possibly a beer special, appetizer special and giveaways.

To make this as easy as possible for you, we went ahead and created an Event Notice Form that you can fill out once you know of an upcoming event.

Link to form: blocked::[http://www.activetrainer.com/Page2074.aspx]

  • You can also find this form under the Team Login section of blocked::[http://www.teammgd64.com/] under the title, "Event Notice Form".

We hope that by alarming us of future events we can do our best to provide added value for you and your peers.

For any questions regarding the way in which you plan happy hours please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best,

Brian Law

Hi, team,

Like most of you, I got my MGD 64 stuff on Friday. Saturday I ran the Chandler Challenge 10K at Tumbleweed Park, wearing my t-shirt for the first time.

The tag in the shirt kept sticking up on the back of my neck. After pushing it back down about 5 times in the first mile, I gave up on it, but I cut it off when I got home. I also cut horizontal slits in the logo on the back. I hate it when someone takes a nice technical shirt, designed to wick mositure and keep you cool, and puts a big, rubbery design on it that totally defeats the purpose. Anyway, the shirt still looks the same, but seems to breathe a little better.

I forgot to get any pictures at that event, though.

Later that day, I used my card to buy some beer, had a few with some friends and passed out some coupons.

Is there a policy on how many coupons should be given to one person? Someone aksed for a stack to pass out at work. I turned him down and gave him three, but I will see him again.

Anyway, today, Sunday, I ran the ARR classic 20K. (Which turned out to be almost 21K.) I got some pictures, and passed out a few more coupons.

I'm curious about whether anyone else has use their gear yet, or if I'm the first.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Cheers,

Jerry

Hello all! I have spoke with a few of you and I am excited to meet and hang out at various events. My welcome kit is nice but no hat for me either. Today I did the 5k Frank Kush fun run in Tempe and I was 2minutes better than last year. (27:14) Yippie. I have attached a picture of me before the run started.

I am planning a quick happy hour for next Wednesday 10/22 at 5:30pm. I know it is short notice but it is across the street from my store Trader Joes and hopefully a few of you guys can come so we can meet and discuss future fun events. The sports bar is called CK's Tavern and Grill. 4142 E. Chandler Blvd.Ste 105. Basically, east of 40th st and Chandler in Ahwatukee. The happy hour at CK's is from 3pm - 7pm. and they have discounts on all bottle and draft beers during this time. I am recruiting people from my store and some friends to show up. Hope to see you there! Shelley

Hello MGD64 Team

Posted by azshelley Oct 14, 2008

Hello all again, Well it sounds like David is a busy guy like the rest of us. Thanks for the advice about the extra layers for the tour de Tucson. I am looking forward to it. Also, I wanted to mention to all that I would of loved to be part of the SOMA event on Oct. 26th but I will be in Napa Ca. I will be coming back from a great weekend with my mother n law and sister n law. It is our annual girls trip. So, please keep me posted.

I have noticed alot of events in the near future from your blogs but I just wanted to let everyone know I work on Sundays at Trader Joes so I won't be able to participate on Sundays. However, most of my Saturdays are free so I am up for some fun active events. For exampIe, I will be doing the 5k this Saturday for the Frank Kush and I will take pictures. I don't plan on finishing first but it will be fun. Ha Ha . Has anyone received their welcome packet? I am still waiting for mine. Once I receive mine I would like to host a happy hour somewhere. I will keep you all posted. Hopefully many of you can come. Talk soon. Shelley

Busy bees....

Posted by Karen Ebner Oct 14, 2008

Hi Team!  Seems there is interest in meeting up, but scheduling may be a bit difficult across the team. In the interim, if we all keep posting scheduled events or any interest in collaborative events (ie: Dave's post about SOMA & Monte's) we can certainly expect to connect here or there.  I look forward to hearing what you are all up too and meeting you face to face.  Still waiting on my own gear...eager to get started!!

In the meantime, thought I would share this little funny about 401(K):

If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock one year ago you would have $49.00 left.+
+     With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1, 000.00.+
+     With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.+
+     But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.+
+     Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.+
+     It's called the 401-Keg…..

TGIF!!! Team MGD 60 - PHX

Posted by Karen Ebner Oct 10, 2008

Hi teammates - Great to "e-meet" you and introduce myself.  I'm Karen and totally revved up about being a part of this team. I live in East Phoenix (44th St/Thomas Area) and spend a great bit of time bouncing around this area for "social" activities. However, I work up in the Scottsdale Airpark area as director, talent management for a digital marketing company.

Moving to Phx from NJ (GO PHILLIES!!!    ) 8 years ago, I never would have imagined that I would be enjoying the life I lead today. I am all for running, biking (road/mtn), hiking, camping, team sports, triathlons, adventure/urban races....but I balance that out with "bar sports" like trivia/darts/pool/shuffleboard, cards, pubcrawls, "cruiser-cocktail-crusades" and the like.

My friends refer to me as "Julie" (Cruise director from Love Boat), since I am the 'go to' for getting things organized and tend to come up with some neat ideas.  I have also been able to motivate a number of "less than motivated" folks to "GET OFF THE COUCH" which is a motto I try to promote.

In addition to a Scottsdale Co-ed Softball team, and tuesday night tempe town lake small running group runs, my upcoming events

already planned include: 10/11 Cactus Cha Cha Ru, 10/19 South Mountain

Run, 10/26 SOMA Relay-bike, 11/22 Mud Run, 12/5 Cave Creek Luminary

Run, 1/19 PFChangs 1/2

I am competitive, that is, until it takes away the fun...I like to keep it real. Seeing others have fun is a big part of this.

It would be great to meet up with everyone one of these days and brainstorm on a larger event or two that we can work on together...mucho points for all!   (I am all about the more the merrier) Anyone up for this??  Anyone up for meeting next Wednesday night somewhere?

Looking forward to working and playing with all of you!

Welcome to the Team MGD 64 Phoenix Blog. We created this blog so you and your fellow MGD 64 ambassadors could collaborate and communicate with each other regarding all things MGD 64. Not only can you alert your peers about upcoming happy hours and social events, but also build personal relationships with your market and maybe find a new drinking buddy or two! Your market may prove to be your biggest help throughout your sponsorship because they are experiencing the same things you are.

Happy Blogging!

Cheers,

Introduce ourselves

Posted by azshelley Oct 9, 2008

Hello everyone! I will go ahead and tell a little about myself too. I live in Chandler, AZ and I am a manager at Trader Joe's (Ahwatukee location). I do work alot but I find time to go to the gym (La Fitness) and cycle on Saturday's with my husband James and some friends for a local bike club. (Phoenix metro bike club) Also, me and my friends do enjoy going to happy hour at various places quite frequent. For example, Kona at the Santan is a spot for us.

What I have coming up? I am running in the 5k next Saturday 10/18 for the Frank Kush foundation at Tempe town lake. Then on November 8th is the Breast Cancer Walk, which Trader Joe's has multiple teams put together from a few stores. Then on November 22nd is the Tour de Tucson. They have a 109, 80, 66, or 35 mile route depending upon each individuals endurance level. I will be doing the 66 miler and my husband and his brother Herb will do the 109. This will be my first year doing this but my husband and Herb did it last year and they did it in 5hours and 10 and 20 minutes. If you do it under 5 hours you receive platinum, which they are striving for this year. Is anyone interested in joining me in any of these events? Also, I look forward to hearing about other events from others so I can possibly attend.

Hope to hear from everyone soon! Shelley

Hey Phoenix! I know some of you already, but just thought it would be great to introduce ourselves to each other and find out what active sports each one of us is into. I'll start....

I live in Gilbert and work for an Atlanta based software company. My office is in my home, so I can often be found training right up until 8am when I have to start work. Not having to commute to a job sure does help with training!! I am mainly into Triathlon. I have been racing for 2 years now, after hiring a coach to learn how to swim. (I could not put my face into the water before....it was not pretty)! I also love to do running and biking races as well. I am heavily involved in the beginnertriathlete.com blogging community and have met many people there that I often train with and talk to on a daily basis. If you check it out my username on there is StandsWithFist.

As far as upcoming races I will be doing the SOMA Half Ironman for the second time here in 2 weeks. After that I will be volunteering at Ironman AZ again, and signing up the following morning for my chance to compete in 2009. Then there is a great reverse sprint triathlon on Thanksgiving morning I always do, followed by the Irongirl 10 mile run in December. January will bring about my first Full Marathon, and in February I will do RAGNAR - a 12 person 182 mile run from Wickenburg to Mesa. So I guess over the next 6 months I will have plenty of chances to promote MGD 64!!

Alright, I hope all of you will follow and introduce yourself so we can see how we can better interact and fulfill our roles of team members of Team MGD 64! ~ Tanya

Hey, who's doing SOMA??

Let's plan a post-race MGD celebration!

I'll talk with the manager at Monti's, we donate our collective share of MGD64 to the bar so they can sell it and the proceeds can go to Chances for Children.

What do you think?

I, by the way, will be racing this year in a full-body Captin America costume!

DCB!

P.S. KUDOS to Tanya for kickin' it on the Tour de Scottsdale! Next year we'll make sure Team MGD64 is representing!

Just finished riding in the 2008 Tour de Scottsdale 70 mile bike ride!!!  Saturday night before the race after logging into the team website I realized that Dave from DCB Adventures, the race director for this race, is also a member of Team MGD64!!! SWEET!!!  So I hunted him down before the race and introduced myself as he got his head glued shut, (he got a nasty gash on the top of his head! You can see the white bandage on top of his head! Hey...it's HARD being an RD)!  He put on a great race and it was a beautiful day!
