Currently Being Moderated

5 and a half weeks until Big Sur Half

Posted by ToshiMoshi on Oct 3, 2007 4:47:00 PM

My quads still hurt from running downhill at the race on Sunday.

The recovery run on Tuesday felt good, but my legs felt heavy on the track this morning.

2 x 2,000m at ½ marathon pace

2 x 1 mi at 10K pace

1 x 1,000m at 5K pace

1 x 800m at 3K pace

Each lap was 4-5 sec slower than my target pace for ½ marathon and 10K pace, and I had to be careful not to push myself and concentrated on my form. But, I was back on my target pace for 5K and 3K pace. May be I pushed myself too much for the 3K pace run.

I felt extra ambitious today, so I biked to work.

My right ankle bothered me a little. I've got to be careful about pushing myself too much for fast runs, especially when my muscles are not fully recovered.

Nice numbers. Be good to your body! Do you get body work done? I get deep tissue sports massage after big events or before big events. Its taken a bit of "shopping around" to get the right style and price, but its helped me recover so much better. Also, I have a book for you which might actually be of  great help.

I guarantee this will unlock potential for you:

Whoa! I just got the book last week!

I became a believer when I tried out his training plan from his other book, Guide to Cross-training.

I managed to finish 2 marathons. I'm hoping to break the 3-hr barrier for the next marathon.

Btw, you (and the book) were mentioned in the article from The New York Times

I can't wait to see Matt Fitzgerald in person at San Jose Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 marathon!

Thats awesome! Hahaha, yeah I think its a good fit for you then, very cool! I was stoked to see the article in the Times yesterday. Fitzgerald is great. He's on the cutting edge and keeps things interesting and exciting. When it comes down to pushing on through to the next level, the athlete like you and I need to be believers. This is good stuff. Have fun this weekend
