Not only was it the longest stage in a long race, the boys were all battered and bruised from the crashes!! So maybe it took them longer to finish, the end was sooo exciting!!! And it's good for the Tour organizers to remember that they are not machines; but human beings!
Ronan, love the emotion of your entries... keep'em coming!
I have a question for you: how do they make the leaders' jerseys so quickly after every stage? Does each team have a variety of different sized yellow, green and polka dot jerseys, or are they custom-made on the spot?
Thanks...
Question: If those 4 guys on the stage 3 breakaway had kept focused and worked together could they have stayed away from the pelaton? Or is it they're going to get caught and there is nothing they can do about it. It seems like we see these breaks disintegrate at the end every year.
The tour has a supply of the various jersey's for each team. I saw this on a show about the tour once, they showed the inside of a van that contained stacks and stacks of jerseys.
I have a question (actually 2 that are related). I always loved the team time trial - I thought it was like an all out breakaway where the riders were working for a goal beyond the individual glory. Why has it been eliminated from the last couple of years tours? Do the riders like it?
Thanks.
