Thank you for giving Contador his due. In the US, Lance coverage has overshadowed Contador's fantastic performance, but today he showed he is the man who deserves to be in yellow.

What an amazing amount of sportsmanship demonstrated today by the riders! Cycling is the only sport where 3 men could be racing for the finish and two will allow the third to finish first out of respect for all the hard work put in that day. Allez Lance, Allez!

Wish I could share your enthusiam that the tour is still wide open. Maybe for second place in the GC but the yellow jersey battle is so typical of the Lance years. All the main competitors are long gone....Menchov, Evans, and now even Wiggins is no serious threat. From my perspective, the battle at the Giro was far more compelling.

Further, the green, polka dot and perhaps the white are all but handed out. And where's the critic of Contador dropping Kloden for no apparent reason. Glad that there is at least some drama off the bike.

Terrific contest today as saxo boys made thier challenge but were found wanting.Only Bradley can now stop an Astana clean sweep of the podium.Or do you think the saxo boys brave enough to gamble on going early as they need to ask bigger questions or settle for minor positions.

Funny how you leave Lance out of this post, but yet again, he shows up today and you speak well of him in the next post. Wonder it is your history with Lemond? Keep jumping that band wagon onto the Lance mobile........yeah!

At the beginning of the race I was hoping mostly for Lance to just finish. The fact that he's at this competitive of a level is amazing to me. I guess that's all Lance knows how to do is amaze people.. I've been on Le Tour trail since Barcelona, so I'm looking forward to getting home soon and watching my recordings. The finish this year, if everybody stays clean will be great.

On the note of who stays on Team Astana, I think it will be in Lances best interest to jump to another up and coming team that can support him in a solo effort next year. It will help keep his image up.

Surprise? I didn't think so. I'd love to see Lance win again, but realistically he's not at that level now. Contador looks super. Lance has talked about maybe forming his own team next year. Contador can stay with Astana. Johan Bruyneel may have to decide which team to manage though.

so next year, if alberto wins, what team will he ride for? will the mgr stick with his loyalty to lance or to the two time and current tour winner? i have to say alberto was really tough today and clearly he is a very good rider/climber. i didn't like the way he sat on lance's wheel several days back and then jumped ahead and left lance to protect the team. but he is a very strong rider.
