Gaiter Recommendations

For the running I do all I need is ankle gaiters. I've had some people recommend dirty girl gaiters but on their website it talks about velcro that's good for a few uses and then buying your own after that? Seems like a bit of a hassle. What do you guys and gals use to keep sticks and rocks out of your shoes while trail running?
First 40 mile run

I started at 6:30 A.M. with my camelbak. I did the first 25 miles without walking then i walked about 5 minutes and ran another 5 miles then walked about 8 minutes. I ran until mile 37 then i started to fall apart. My legs were in excruciating pain and my mind was going also. Luckily my g/f ran the last 10 miles with me so it kept me going and i finished in exactly 8 hours! I posted a thread a month or so ago about my first 30 mile run and this was the same route with an added 10 miles. I have not done a marathon yet but i am doing my first one in november. all of my running has been for fun and on my own. I work 12 hours a day so i try to get a good 8 to 13 mile run in 3 times a week after work and a long 15 or 20 mile run on the weekends. I think my next long run will be a 50 mile trail run and i will sign up for a race somewhere here in Texas. any advice would be helpful because i am still new to running i have only been doing it for 8 months and 8 months ago i couldn't walk a mile lol.
