High School Sophomore Lydiard Training

I ran XC last year as

a freshman and was pretty decent at it (11:30 2 mile pr) but quit late

into the season due to frustration at not improving as much as I wanted

to.

Now I'm playing soccer, and that's kept me in pretty decent

shape but running is my true love. My dad doesn't believe in not

finishing something I've started though, so I'm going to have to stick

with soccer the rest of the season.

Anyway, I've been reading

up on reading and after having weighed Daniels and Lydiard I've opted

Lydiard. I just want to know do you think training using Lydiards style

while playing soccer is going to lead to burnout, injury or anything

like that. Is it even a good idea?

I'm training for outdoor track btw, so the 7 month training program ends with the start of the season.

I

can currently run for about 40-50 minutes maximum in my current shape

if it matters, and I've been running 2 miles each day for the past one

and a half months.

Running cannot be done another way so it is the first irrefutable and observable science in health, fitness and sports. You can now let gravity do all the work of moving you forward to walk, jog, run and sprint. A sprinter goes through all four speed labels to reach top speed. The four speed labels are the same self transport movement at a variety of speeds. Walking can be seen as running slowly and sprinting can be seen as running very fast.
Novel about High School Cross Country Team

The Longest Fall, by Lee Krinsky

"An Inspirational Coming of Age Story"

Bellmore, NY- High school years can be a time to forge friendships and learn about how to be a team member. It can also be a time when the real world forces boys to become men. In Lee Krinsky's The Longest Fall (iUniverse), the sudden death of an inspiring teammate from a high school cross country team quickly shows the boys the harsher side of life.

The book is based in part on the author's very real high school experiences as a member of the W.C. Mepham cross country team with legendary coach Paul Limmer. Limmer coached at the Bellmore school for over 30 years and established an elite team with countless state champions and wins in prestigious meets. Tragically, like one of the main characters in The Longest Fall, one of the runners from the cross country team died in Krinsky's junior year of high school. As devastating as it was, the team banded together and won the county title in this member's honor, while years later Krinsky not only wrote about it in his coming of age story, but, along with another teammate, runs a scholarship fund in the runner's name.

Mixed with this rich history are beautiful descriptions of local parks, including Bethpage and Sunken Meadow, where the boys train. Although the story takes place on Long Island, it is universal in its message. Runners will see themselves as resilient and persistent while those who experienced a loss in their lives will find comfort to discover that they are not alone. The lesson is that it takes an entire team to pull together in order to come out a winner, especially when the goal line is crossing over into adulthood.

www.thelongestfall.com

Available at Amazon.com and Iuniverse.com

EVer since 8th grade running I started running totally mental. I did fine Middle school years and then I just started running mental. I think about how tired I am and then I just constantly think about that instead of running to catch up or to win. I tell myself im tired when im not even tired. I know it should be a easy fix.. just don't think about it, but i've tried! When you guys are in a race and you're getting tired what do you think about? An example is during a mile, right when I hit that 400 im telling myself im dead tired even tho im not even tired, so then I slow down a TON. I know this is crazy but its ruining my running career. I love running a lot so if you guys could help me fix this I will be greatful! Thanks for reading this
