Re: Having trouble getting back into it...

I know what you mean! I experienced this as a new triathlete and getting back into it after a much deserved rest. It's hard because it's, well NEW! I don't know how you gauge your events, yes they are competitive, but ultimately I see they are very much a solo event on your own abilities. So I'd encourage you to stop comparing yourself to others. Even if they are supportive friends. Lean on them for support, but don't beat yourself up when you don't! Journey into your self-motivation and remind yourself that you have free will and choices. It's like giving the mule the space to move on his own accord instead of forcing him. (Works with kids too!)

I started with shorter distances around the neighborhood outside and ran on packed snow all bundled up so I wouldn't freeze while sweating. i worked on technique and speed to strengthen muscles and breathing. My workouts were shorter on distance outside and I had incentive get the hell back in the warm house! By the time I was ready to lengthen my runs, I was disciplined and ready for the gym scene to entertain me and I didn't have the same slog to move through. I'm no expert, but hope my personal ideas helped you. Your support is here in this active community too, by the way.

I had a TMJ subluxation (jaw joint misaligned). As soon as I was aligned again, I could hear! By the way, ONE drop of lavender or tea tree essential oils on a saturated cottonball with almond oil or water works for me after a workout in the pool. Just squeeze to fill ear and let it drain out. The combination of oil and essential oil helps to replace the skin protecting wax that gets washed out with pool chemicals. Both essential oils have antibacterial qualities. Tea tree has antiviral qualities as well. This helps me feel better if there is a little bit of pool water left in my ear. If you decide to try this, you should expect to feel a little tingling sensation. Again, use only ONE drop.

Thank you. As well as to everyone else. I knew I wasn't the only one out there, yet you kinda have to put it out there to find answers from people who know from experience. I noticed there is not much out there for active, breastfeeding mamas.

Michele, my race is in 2 weeks as well.
