Running a marathon in 3 days -- toe pain help!

I'm running my second marathon on Sunday. Tuesday (2 days ago) my big toe started hurting just out of the blue. The pain is in between the pad of my big toe and the ball of my foot (does this make sense?). It seems to be slightly swollen as well. I've been icing it and taking motrin. I don't know what else to do! Should I run on it?? Any advice would be appreciated!

My in-laws are in Fremont (Clear Lake) in the north eastern corner of Indiana. Dh and I are now in Metro Detroit.

Deb, I grew up just outside of West Lafayette, IN home of the Purdue Boilermakers. My parents live in farm country . I love the boonies too, but there were so many darn dogs to worry about. I guess those farmers just let their dogs roam. Oh well. My parents own 40 acres with a wooded area and creek running through it. Its great!

4 miles for me this morning. Things have been crazy since I got back from vacation in Indiana. Of course, when I visit my parents I always feel like I gained 5 pounds. I did run while I was there though they live out in the boonies and dogs running around scare me.

Anyway, DS11 started cross country practice last week. I'm excited that he is getting into running. He has always done soccer until now.

Eeek! I over slept this morning and I'm not sure I'll get a run in at all I have so much to do! We are leaving later today and will be gone for a week.

Ty, I'm so sorry for your pain but I'm so glad they were able to fit you in!!

Just got back from 4.5 miles and I'm melting like an ice cream cone! I must go shower soon! No pain in the foot again so maybe it was just a charlie horse.

Ron: My four kiddos were gone over the weekend a couple of weeks ago and it was so quiet I could hardly stand it.

Alemma: Yum, lasagna! I think I must check my cupboards to see if I have the fixins to make some myself.

willamona: I am expecting my runningskirt any day now. I'll let you know how it runs when I get it. I am a 6 to 8 in my regular clothes and I ordered a size 3.

Good morning! Just got back from an easy 3 miles. I had no pain in my foot! Yippee! The heat and humidity out there is terrible.

Ty: We had our daughter's tonsils out after her birthday last year. It worked out well, because she did have all of her new toys to play with. Good luck with your decision!

OS: How do you do it? How do you get out there so early and get those runs in? Good job!

fit: I can't believe the daycare wouldn't cancel an outdoor field trip in this heat. Probably a good call to keep the kids home.

shell: OK. OK... you might persuade me to go to the doctor...I've had a cough all summer!
