Pain in the foot

The pain in the left foot could be what I have in my right foot, Morton's Neuroma.

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0004542/

It's basically an injury to a nerve between your toes. For me it started out to numbness while I was running, which would go away quickly once my run stopped. After a few months it changed to more of a pain in the same areas, behind my toes, any time I walked. I reduced my mileage from about 90 miles a month down to 15 for a month, and it seemed to have improved. As I've ratcheted my mileage up over the last few months, some pain has returned, but I'm fighting through it to reach my goal of 1000 miles this year :-)

Anti-inflamatories are said to help, as well as wearing shoes with a wider toe box.

Good luck!

Re: Event Reviews

The course is great. My only complaint with it is how it narrowed at the LJ Shores lifeguard tower, to about 5 feet wide. With 6000 runners, and about 2500 of them running between 1:50 and 2:15, that's 100/minute passing any given point. So, almost 2 per second filing through that little opening. Not good, a lot of potential for injury.

Packet pickup stinks. I, like 100's of others there, never received my post card in the mail. So, I had to wait in line for 30 minutes just to get someone to write my # on a postcard after checking my ID. There were two lines which were for people A-K and L-Z last names, but this wasn't posted anywhere, and people ended up waiting in the wrong line, then getting to the front, and finding out they were in the wrong place. Then to get my race packet, I had to take my postcard to someone else who wanted to see my ID again. Seems redundant. And with parking being a premium, we had to park 6-8 blocks away, wait in multiple lines, and walk back to the car, barely getting there before the parking Nazi's had a chance to write us a ticket since most of the area is 1 hour parking (tire was chalked).

Goody bags please! We pay a decent price for the race, more should be included. Come on, get more sponsors! Technical shirts are nice, but quality t-shirts are appreciated too. Maybe give a choice? The design was nice this year.

Water stations: We need at least one water station on the course that has gel/goo. Carlsbad Half had at least two. Water was kinda nasty at some stations, like it came from an old garden hose (I think this was on LJ Shores). Also, some stations were not prepared/under staffed, and one had to stop and wait for water.

Finish line: The coral was unorganized. I got an orange slice and a tiny cup of water, and heard there were bananas, but didn't see them. Again, Carlsbad Half had food, bottled water, and it was well laid out. The funnel after getting the medal (which is nice!) is way too wide and with the mass of people, you cant see 10' to the side of you.

Website: Like another poster said, it looks like something I would have made it in 1998. Lacking some info (who is the photographer?, I had to search Google for it).
