Eat That Frog!

Ok, so I know I have turned some of your stomachs with that subject header but I truly mean it! "Eat That Frog" comes from a quote by Mark Twain who said that if when you wake up in the morning you know you have to eat a frog, eat it right away! The longer you put it off the uglier and bigger that frog gets! So, is your workout YOUR FROG? Just get it done, before you take the time putting it off and building it up to be this insurmountable event. Get it done, enjoy the feeling of pride and sail through the rest of your day with that energy and strength!

*Wake each morning ready to EAT THAT FROG, Ladies! *

-Farel

Re: Do Diet and Exercise Affect Fertility?

Good question and the jury is still out on this, however, the research so far shows that, yes, nutrition and Exercise can affect fertility. Interestingly enough, there are fertility clinics in Canada who refuse to accept patients who smoke or do NOT exercise.

Seems like staying healthy is a good start toward fertility!

Re: Pregnant Women and High Heart Rate

Because the OB/GYN's recommendations from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) do not include any reference toward monitoring heart rate during pregnancy, for any reason, I feel that Active should support that stance. It is only cause for undue concern in a healthy pregnancy. There are many studies which have contradictory information and I feel it is important to stay in alignment with ACOG, who can disseminate these various studies for the factual information we all desire. Check out www.acog.org for more information...

ACOG's stance is that in a healthy pregnancy, heart rate is not a reliable indicator of intensity. They claim that RPE (Rating of Perceived Exertion) or Talk Tests should take place of HR monitoring and that pregnant women simply should not exercise to the "point of exhaustion". These guidelines are from ACOG's latest release in 2002

-Farel Hruska, Stroller Strides National Fitness Director, www.strollerstrides.com
