OK - so i committed to run the AFC Half-Marathon. I've run it several times before but not while carrying around an extra 40-50 lbs. The race is 6 weeks away and I am just starting to walk-run since I injured my back a year and a half ago. Anyone have a healthy way to lose this weight while also starting an exercise regimen?

The 12 youth teams (Boys and Girls U14-U19) that advance from the four Regionals to the National Champs July 24-29 at Frisco, TX have been decided. Go to http://championships.usyouthsoccer.org/ for more. California clubs continue to show their strength as 7 of the 12 teams from region IV (West) hail from Cal South clubs. Two advanced from Cal-North clubs. Unlike most other sports, the best youth soccer players/teams match up in USYS sanctioned club tournaments rather than middle or high school run programs.

I saw the end of the US/Canada game. That was so wrong. How could the ref or line judge miss the call? Is there no way in soccer to appeal a call? Can the refs be fined or demoted for bad calls like this? Has there ever been discussion of instant replay in soccer? I'm sure all the so-called purists would be against it but if you're a Canada fan it probably doesn't sound like such a bad idea right about now.

I was working the Acura Tennis Classic in Rancho Mirage (CA) and ran into Anna Kournakova about 10 years ago. I was with some people that represented her apparel and footwear sponsor. She was still only like 17. We met up with her and her mom in a bar at the hotel. We played darts and hung out for a while. She was fun but a bit pretentious as you can imagine a girl so young getting all that attention might be. We all knew she was going to go on to be a star. And not a bad tennis player either.

Barry Bonds - greatest hitter of all time?

Most everyone has an opinion on Barry Bonds. Let's share why he is the best hitter or not.

My feeling is that while he is a good hitter he should not be in the Hall of Fame due to his drug use. There is no doubt that he used some sort of muscle building / enhancing substance. He's a bad role model for kids and I won't even get into how much off a selfish, pompous jerk he is. That doesn't take away his performance on the field but I can't recognize someone who cheats over the players that play clean.

Let's hear what you all have to say.

Hey I have a question.

I saw that on Wed 7/27 Mexico played Brazil. What was that game for? I didn't hear anything in the news about a big match coming up and Brazil/Mexico would usually get some press build up?
