So, instead of jumping up to 20 this week, I decided to repeat the 18. I felt great and the pace was good (for me). The weather was perfect. The company was perfect. Like Immer, I got to watch a beautiful sunrise. I logged both road and trail miles...a mix that makes me happy :-) I'm happy to report that 2 days post-run and the body is pretty happy. I have a little tightness in my outer left ankle...I think it is an old injury (peroneal tendonitis) lodging a complaint. I might cross-train for another day or two just to give it some TLC and the time it needs. Good runs everyone!

It was humid and soupy, but I didn't mind. I've had a streak of runs lately that haven't felt so great. I'm hoping the streak breaks soon because I have a 1/2 marathon this weekend. I've got one more workout this week and then I'll start pulling back so that I'll be rested for the race. The crappy runs are messing with my head a little

Have a great day everyone!

I will help my friend as she runs her first marathon. She runs slower than me, so I can run with her as my last long run before NYC and hopefully not risk hurting myself. I mainly want to be there to see her face when she crosses the finish line

I almost have a 12 mile run mapped near my house. I need to find the connector between two trails. By the end of the summer, I will be able to run 12-17 miles on trails that are within a few minutes of my house. I love getting lost in the woods!! Temps weren't awful this morning. I am worried about the patches of poison ivy that seem to be popping up on my arm and legs...ugh.

Re: Why do you run so much?

Jimmy - Your post brought up some issues for me. I have found that there are some people out there that just don't understand and really are curious. There are others, though, that make comments that are mean. For example, I've heard the usual "How far did you run today?" and my reply "17 miles" and the retort "What the hell did you do that for? That is why we have cars!", or, "We're going to Aunt Jenny's house, get ready to eat some tree bark and drink soy milk" (as opposed to the fast food my neices and nephews are being fed 2-4 x week). The worst, though, was when my brother-in-law told me I was much to skinny from running and that hugging me was like hugging a little boy. WTH?

I run because I would go insane if I didn't. It is my antidepressant, my girlfriend time, my spiritual time, my confidence builder. I love how my body feels like it is humming when I finish a run! I try to be an ambassador for running and focus on the positive.

Thanks for venting, it's nice to know others go through similar experiences!!
