I registered race day and went through the whole registration process within 15min. (arrived at 7:30am). Plenty of parking space even with the big crowd.

Digital clocks were at every mile. Start had pace markers which was also good. Chips were used.

The course was also decent, all within the park with first 2 miles of rolling hills then flat and along the lake with slight uphill at very end. Course was well taken care of and very little litter, funny signage and Elvis impersonator with black leather suit...five stars.

Plenty of police to guide the traffic and keep things running smooth and safe and nam knights biker escort.

The race started about 15min. late but other than that, it was a really well-managed race.

This was one of the best races in the area that I've run for all the above reasons so if you do this type of thing regularly you should check it out.

Otherwise, it's my 30 minutes out of the house with no one bugging me! My husband is in the Air Force, so some of the gyms do offer it; here it's just a partitioned off area with plexiglas and a couple of little chairs, but it did the job today! If he works a night shift or afternoon I'll use it, but I do my best not to. It doesn't have very good lighting, stinks because it was an old racquetball court and has no venilitation, but it is there if I need it.

The wide range of participants was surprising - young parents with strollers, silver-haired seniors, young kids, obese middle-aged men, athletic young men and girls - everybody gamely participating in the 5K to the best of their ability and training. Very well-organized by my local YMCA. The weather was a little warm, but not too warm; a perfect start to Thanksgiving Day!

I've been looking over this site quite a bit but can't find what i need to know- so a book it is!
