I had to take a week off (life got in the way) but I went out for a nice and easy half hour this morning. 13 min/mi pace on average and comfortable the whole way. Nice to feel like it's easy. I'll do another couple runs like this and then get started on increasing my time. Happy running everyone

It was a bit tough and I wasn't feeling amazing but I kept it slow and was able to finish without trouble.

I hope everyone is still doing well.

W8D2 done.

A few changes for this one. First of all, I brought my iPhone instead of my iPod and for some reason, the C25K programme is different (newer) on it. So my run was for 29 minutes today. This also means that I got an accurate read on my pace and distance. My running pace is 12.9 min/mi. I think my comfortable pace is about 12.0 but I add in a few short sections of extra slow to recover on occasion. I'm pretty confident I'll eventually get that to around 10.0 which is my goal pace. The second change, is that I'm wearing some new running gear and I'm not regretting the purchase at all! Especially the new socks have made a world of difference. Gotta love the high tech clothing available these days.

I think I'm going to continue on with the bridge to 10K course. My goal with picking up running again has always been to return to the ease at which I ran in my younger years. About ten years ago, I could comfortably go for a slow hour jog with friends and I'd really love to have that option again. That makes the 10K course perfect- and again, I'll run for time, not distance.

Great job everyone!!

It was hard but I'm really happy how it went because I actually feel fit... for once! I was able to jog comfortably and when I found myself getting a bit out of breath, I just slowed down for 50 m or so for a recovery and felt good again. Such a difference than having to push myself all the way. The last couple minutes were difficult but I never felt like I had to stop. This programme really does work. And so does having the support of an online running team.

Good job everyone

W7D2 done!

After my big fail on W7D1, I decided to make sure I slowed down at the start (found my special super slow pace) and it worked really well. At the half-way point, I was really relaxed and breathing easily so it gave me a lot of confidence. With about five minutes to go, I was able to open up my pace just a little and with one minute to go, I was jogging at a respectable pace. Anyway, speed doesn't matter right now but it just shows that I wasn't outside of my comfort this time.

I guess the next big step for me is to get some weight loss going. There's no way I can improve my running until I drop about 5 kg. And my ideal healthy weight involves losing about 10 kg. It's a lot but it should be possible. I eat very poorly right now so even some small changes should make a big difference.

Congrats everyone!

About 5 minutes in, two galloping horses went by and caused enough of a distraction and delay that I only ran for another 5-10 minutes. I'll have to give it another go. I think it'd be sensible to backtrack and do some intervals again so I might just make up my own programme for the next couple of weeks.

It's been nice reading about everyone's progress. I've been sick and had to take a few extra days off. Then didn't really get dinner last night so I burned out pretty quickly this morning. Now I'm travelling and need to take another 5-6 days off. I can't believe I've been running for five weeks. There was such a big energy barrier for getting started but now this feels like something I can keep up. Great programme!

The run was challenging but not too hard. I could probably push myself a little more in terms of pace because I'm still doing about 11 minute miles (woefully slow) but I think it's better that I keep enjoying myself and leave the training runs until I have a base.

The beautiful people were out this morning.
