I've run other Sun Striders events and Rachel and her gang do a great job! Please don't hold this event against them. Also, it was for a wonderful charity and how could you not like the FREE wine tasting at the end?! My friends and I really enjoyed it, the wonderful people we met tasting wine and will definitely do it again next year even if Mother Nature doesn't cooperate!

I would prefer a jungle gym, pull-up bars, a rock pile, some tractor tires and a set of dumbbells. Oh, and you can't forget a long set of stairs or hill to carry either your rock pile, dumbbells or partner up! Now you're talking! I actually like to mix it up and just keep it fun, challenging and interesting.

Re: Becoming a Fitness Trainer/Instructor

Great advice Sandra! In addition, I would recommend that you get out there and the "walk the walk" that you're going to be preaching. You will have all sorts of people coming to you asking about everything from running marathons to powerlifting. I've found, for myself, I really enjoy being well rounded and having first hand experience in many different areas. For instance, I've run many marathons and have hit the wall on a few occasions. This definitely helps me explain 'the wall' to clients having been there myself. It would be difficult to just give a text book definition without the actual feeling. Get out there and try Boot Camp classes, to Pilates and Yoga, Kettlebell training to trail and road running. Most importantly have fun!

Re: Are Their Limits to What the Human Body Can Do?

Great question Trish! I've been asked that many times myself. As a Guinness World Record Holder, UltraMarathoner and Strongman Competitor, I've tried to do a little bit of it all and have traveled around the world while searching. Common sense and science would probably say, yes, but I say the best part is just trying to find out what our own limits are. Unfortunately the majority of us will go through life never knowing our bodies so-called 'top speed' or ultimate strength potential. This is the best part, if a limit does exist, get out there and find yours! Have fun!

You'll get lots of attention! I do admit there are certain scenarios when it might make more sense from a practical standpoint. However, unless it's absolutely unavoidable, go with real food.

Why not eat real food? Just think about it. Don't use it just because everyone else is. We may be technologically advanced but we still live in a Neanderthal body. Meaning that our bodies function better on real food. I've been able to complete some of the World's Toughest Events and even break a Guinness World Record using only "real food" for fuel. Again, just some "food" for thought!

World's Fittest Man

www.Joe-Decker.com

Both can definitely exist together, though they're traditionally not supposed too. It really depends what your primary goal is. For instance, I enjoy being a competitive UltraRunner and Strongman competitor. It's an extremely difficult balance at times but on the flip side lotsa fun and very rewarding. By working hard at both areas, I was able to break a Guinness World Record for Fitness. There's been many good posts with lotsa good info. The key is to pick and choose what you like, experiment with various programs, then with this knowledge develop a plan that works best for you. Think outside the box. Break the rules. Have fun!

"Long, Strong, Fast, Fit!'

Worlds Fittest Man

www.Joe-Decker.com
