That's actually verbatim of what I got from my physical therapist today. In addition, to stop attempting to run and walk only at a snails pace and any pain is no good. I have a follow-up on Monday with my podiatrist to get my custom orthotics. Before I had the injury I had just gotten into a groove with crossfit and began to enjoy exercise for the first time. I just didn't want to lose the progress I'd made. Many moons ago I was in the Army and I had to exercise and I didn't enjoy it as much. I just hope this doesn't take too long to heal.

I don't do video games but today I purchased the Wii console with the Wiifit game and hopefully in conjunction with riding my incumbent bike it'll supplement my cardio.

Woois me, I guess it could be worst!

I'm definitely going to try this. Since my first post I was found to have a 2in vertical tear on my Achilles tendon. I've been going to physical therapy and I now at least can put some weight on my left foot but there is still stiffness in the morning and after long periods of rest. I have pain when I make sudden movements it's like every movement has to be calculated and if I step without concentrating it's going to hurt. I went walking this morning and tried to run a little but the pain is unbearable. I'm trying to overcome this injury so no suggestion is out dated. I need all the help I can get.

I pretty much rest my foot this past weekend and I've limited myself to upper body here and there. I didn't want to get completely out of my workout. I have began to stretch it but right now it hurts to touch much less stretch. Oh by the way I'm Mrs. Jones not Mr. (Ha-Ha) It's okay. It's a man's world. I understand. You all have been great help. I have to wear an aircast for a few months and I've been prescribed an anti-inflammatory and a painkiller. I too do not like taking medicine so I've been just dealing with it and trying to keep it elevated. Today, I had to take the pain meds because I just couldn't stand to walk not even to the restroom. I did have some stretches and I'll be sure to do them when I can stand to put some weight on my foot. Right now I can't stand to touch it. The heel spur makes it difficult, I have to get a MRI on Friday and I'll find out Monday just how much damage I've done. I'm going to the gym tomorrow and try to limit the movement of my legs and work on my upper body. I hope I'm able to bounce back pretty quick definitely less than 5-months. Thanks for the input.

I was in the process of working towards my fitness goal doing crossfit (which I found to just love). However, I incurred an injury with my heel. For years, I've been stiff getting out of bed or stiff after periods of exercise but I've always sucked it up...Now that I've gotten out of shape and attempted to get back what I considered I lost now I'm having this problem. I have a MRI scheduled for this Friday and I'll learn the specifics of the condition. I just wanted to know if anyone had any insight.

I'm fairly new at exercising and I can't seem to get it together. I start and I don't finish. I hate the way I look and I love when I'm in shape. I've allowed myself to get out of control and I don't know how or where to start and remain consistent. I can't believe I actually said the work consistent... I'm 5'4" and I weigh 200lbs. I'm trying to lose 80lbs. I've stopped eating fried foods, white flour and anything that says enriched. I try to watch my saturated fats and I've just this week decided to take this thing one day at a time. I've been in control for the majority of my life. I'm former Military (Army) many moons ago and I used to be very active. I'm just having a hard time getting it together... Any suggestions??

I actually was in the Army several years ago and was very fit. Since that time I allowed life to alter things. My husband is still in the Army and very active. Due to my job I had to undergo some rigorous training that allowed me to get somewhat back into being able to run comfortable at a 10 min mile pace. In January 07, I weighed 230lbs on my own I've dropped down to 180lbs by the most simplest thing...(putting out more that I put in!!) I've tried every diet in the book but I've maintained a constant effective weight loss by pushing back from the table, eating cleaner and exercising. I do wish my weight loss would be faster but I'm learning patience. I have to realize I didn't put it all on in a day and it won't come off that easy. I keep saying to myself this is years of abuse. I want to build on where I have gotten to and don't want to fall back into the doing nothing rut. I work downtown but I live in McDonough. Send me an email we can discuss further.
