And it doesn't hurt while I'm running, but does immediately afterward. And it will continue to hurt for a few days. I did my 2nd 5k on the 4th of July, and had planned to do another one tomorrow, August 8th. However, my knees started hurting a couple of weeks ago. And not a sore pain, but as in someone smashed them with a hammer. What could this mean? Do I need new shoes? Or should I start taking joint medicine? I'd really hate to stop running. I'm a thin girl, and started running for the first time last year to train for a 5k. I trained off a schedule I pulled from this website, and it was torture the first couple of weeks. They said "GO", and those people took off as if there were a million dollars waiting at the finish line. I was completely stunned! I didn't think I'd have to watch out for people cutting me off. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;While training for my 5K, I've run only in the heat. The 5K I just did was in San Francisco, and it was cold!!! This made it tremendously harder, which resulted in me having to walk a few times. Wow, what an experience! I trained for 8 weeks, and set a goal of 45 minutes, and I beat it. I finished in 41.05 minutes, and I'm beyond proud of myself. I posted a thread about my first 5K about 4 weeks into training, and I received lots of encouragement. Thank you everyone!!!! I am now training for a half marathon in November. If I feel I'm not ready as it approaches, I'll be doing another 5K.
