Help with Tight Defense

I think the best way to free up space with an aggressive defender is to use lots of fakes and change up your speeds. You should be hesitating before your moves and exploding past him. Attack his hip and go right back at him hard. Since he is aggressive he will probably fall for some fakes too. What kind of a shooter are you?

Shooting was one of the things I was best at during my basketball career. Now I teach lots of young players the right way to shoot from a technique standpoint and with the proper mindset as well. I have several videos in this Basketball Shooting Drills Playlist that show the proper way to shoot and the confidence it takes to be great!

Kzai01,

There are always going to be quicker players out there so you have to use your basetball IQ to cover them. You have to outsmart them and learn their game as you guard them so you can beat them to the spot. Try to look for little things that they do when they make moves so you can be one step ahead.

Yes you should absolutely play your freshman year of high school! You only get to go to high school once in your life and if you do not play you will regret it the rest of your life! Here is a video to help motivate you and get you excited for this great sport of basketball!
