Garmin Edge + tablet?

Thanks Jason,

I tried the sportablet app and it's actually pretty cool. Works perfectly with my edge 800, it's well organized and intuitive to use.

Some features are still missing, like uploading to garmin connect or facebook. I exchanged a few email with the guy who's writing the app, the upload stuff is coming, plus he's got a lot of cool ideas.

I really wanted to show my support, so in the end I bought one for my asus transformer and one for my wife's iconia, it's working fine with both. She's running with a forerunner 110, and it works with that too.

Guys, if you like the idea of uploading to your tablet, give that app a try : )

Garmin Edge + tablet?

I'm training with a Garmin Edge 800, I also occasionally use an older model (305) when mountain biking. I like to travel light and carrying a notebook around to review my data is less than ideal. What I'd really like is to bring my tablet, plug in my 800/305, and get my charts, map, etc. Uploading to garmin connect would be nice, but that can wait.

Any chance? My tablet is an asus transformer with android 4. It's got a usb port so it should be possible?

It's exactly what I was looking for, and more!

I thought I knew most apps but I had never heard of sportietech, perhaps because they're still in alpha. You're right, it's a bit rough, but all those polished apps I've tried show just a small fraction of the data I've found on sportietech. Let's hope they keep it up (and keep it free!)

Ron

speed zones (garmin)

Is there any way to see my speed or pace zones for an activity recorded using a Garmin (forerunner or edge, I'm training for triathlon and use both)? Something like a chart or a table detailing how much time I've spent in pace zones within an activity? Like: 2mi at 5 min/mi, 3 mi at 5:30, etc.

There is a similar table in the garmin training center, but it's hard to read and based on configured speed zones. That does not help if you train for speed one day and endurance the next day, or if you do hills etc. I need something that can sort of configure itself based on the given activity (I don't want to configure software every time).

Garmin connect seems to lack this feature entirely. There is a report but it seems to me that is based on historical data, like how much time I've spent on a speed zone in the last week. That might be useful for monitoring your load but I'm more interested in analyzing my performance on an activity basis.

There are like a gazillion applications for garmin but the ones I've tried all look alike: a diary, a map, a few basic charts, some basic reports. They seem to cater more to the recreational runner looking for a community of peers than to someone who's actually interested in analyzing his performance.

Can you guys suggest me something better?

Ron
