I don't diet. I think the word is evil! I'm good 90% of the time but I give myself that 10% to goof every now and then. I do try to eat healthy. I eat only lean meats, fish, grilled chicken, etc. I make sure I get plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. I don't drink soda's and I watch my intake. My problem is my food is getting dull. I'm looking for some healthy new ideas for food. I run a design studio plus I have two kids. This doesn't leave me much time for cooking. I normally prep my meals the day before. I'm looking for meals that are fast and that will give me energy. Anyone have any ideas?

I went to a chiropractor and to be honest, it didn't seem to help that much. My trainer suggested that I look into getting a "Sports Massage" I gave it a try and it really helped! When calling a massage therapist it's important to ask for a "Sports Massage". They are normally in the range of $60. to $100.00 for 60min. Not to sound sexiest but I've noticed that males are able to get deeper into the tissue. Of course that's just from my personal exsperience. (Just a tip.. if you get a message, it's important to drink a good deal of water after wards because it helps to flush out toxins)

Does it feel like your knee is swollen and stiff or does it feel like a pinched nerve and has a sharp shooting feeling? You have a good question. I get a "tight" feeling in my knees some times. I've learned if I soak my legs after stressful runs, it helps a little. Good luck because I know first hand how discomforting it can be.

Re: mom of 3 with hectic schedule

I feel you!! I run a business and I've always been very active. I was a single mom for a few years. Then two years ago I got remarried! (My husband runs a business as well.) A long with a large house and a new family came the responsibilities! I had a rude awaking! Six months into our marriage I declared a family meeting. I now had two daughters instead of one. My husband is wonderful and really pulls his weight around the house but it was still to much to carry. I cut down my social events and did a priority check. Of course running was a major priority to me. We made a list of chores for EVERYONE to have. By the kids helping out with folding the laundry and the dishes that freed me up from that. It wasn't right for my husband and I to carry the weight of four people. (By us setting chores and giving allowances, we were able to teach our daughters about the responsiblity of money too.) Instead of our gym memberships, we decided to start building our own gym at home. We started off purchasing one piece at a time. I understand what it's like being superwoman but if running is important to you, than it will be important to your family. There are lots of ways to sneak in time. You can even do your grocery shopping on line now (It doesn't cost you hardly anything to shop that way either. They even except coupons.) I set out outfits and pre-packed lunches the night before. By prepping the food for the next day, it gave me control over my family's diets too. Instead of running through a drive thru on those really busy days, I made healthy turkey wraps with a veggie on the side. All of us working moms understand your position. By everyone in our family doing a share(not just my husband and I doing all the work), it gave me my running time. It's tuff! Good luck!

Restrooms are very, very important too. we like plenty of refreshments free food. Another big thing is parking! Who wants to run in a race that you can't even get to! Make sure your destination has plenty of open parking. Good luck on your event and congratulations on getting married.

Since my mornings start at 4am and my schedule doesn't slow down till 6pm, I run in the afternoons. As soon as I walk in the door, I change and I go running. My problem is that I don't want to take anything to boost my energy because I have trouble falling asleep at night. I've tried eating things that will give me natural energy but it doesn't seem to pack the punch that I need for my runs. Does anyone have any suggestions on some thing I can take or eat that will give me temporary energy so I'm not up all night after my runs?

I run an interior design studio, a house hold, cook dinner every night, I'm on the PTA at school and I run five days a week. I know how you feel! Super woman is a myth!! I have learned that a support system is helpful. My husband is my biggest cheerleader. What kind of hours does your husband work? Time managment is very important! Some times I get the blah's and I don't feel like running but I've learned some good tricks. I put my running shoes by the front door so they are there when I walk in. I have these pair of jeans that I bought one size to small, I drap them over the chair in my room so when I come home from work and I put my stuff down, they're just sitting there looking at me! I keep a "runner's" magazine tucked away in my car and in my desk at work. Once you find the time to run, keep little reminders around to keep you on track. You may have the blah's today but those jeans you'll fit into later makes it so worth it!! Good luck!
