a thought came across my mind while watching the movie (and sorry I do think as a Race Director quite often)

Are the pople who "starred" in this movie people you'd want to meet?

Would their appearance at a race be a draw? Any different than Bingham or Bill Rodgers?

DIDN'T 'THE MOVIE" JUST CREATE NEW EVERY-MAN RUNNING CELEBRITIES

Anyone have contact info for the production company or any of the featured runners?

PS D.Drossin should have her own cooking show!

IPODS are allowed, but pets and babyjoggers are STILL NOT ALLOWED.....

special rules again? to think that somehow you should get out of the way of faster runners and let them take your lane..to me they are only faster runners if they can safely take my lane ahead...not be awarded it...What about that Wayned annd RK..do you move aside, curtesy, and allow faster runners your lane to be nice?..I am probabely thinking NO..if you want my lane.. you got all that distance up ahead to try to take it ..right?

Go ahead Parker make up your own rules again... track rules say you need three strides before you cut in on someone....but common courtesy says you should allow faster runners by, or maybe you seeded yourself too far up in the field, You over estimated your own ability and thought only of yourself....

Arent you the person that said the USATF doesnt have any power anyhow? all they do is sanction and measure race courses? < that was you right?

Just got definitive word at the RunningUSA conference that USATF will not enforce (or require) the IPOD ban.

So as long as they don't ban them you're fine with me and my races......

BUT< NOW I WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP....

even the anarchists agreed there should be some ettiquette info for NEWBIES who want to run with their IPODS..... we include info like "numbers on the front of your body, don't pin down tghe tear off tag" etc, in race info....

What should we include for IPOD use ettiquette??

I'm going to let other posters read what is here and make their own decisions..I suggest we all send an Email to Chairman Finke and let him know what a hot button issue this is...it is a democracy NH..and our numbers and passion will win out..sorry ..

Don't forget to tell him you're not actually a USATF member.

Sounds like the people who don't even register to vote, "complaining" about the election results....They're worse than the people who do register and don't vote.

Become part of the process... ,make the changes you want as part of the group.

Obviously your Master isn't in PoliSci.....or your undergrad either..... we live in a REPUBLIc not a democracy.....in a democracy EVERYONE votes on every new legislation....in a REPUBLIC... we elect officials to legislate on our behalf.....

BECOME A CARD CARRYING MEMBER OF THE USATF AND THEN POLITELY VOICE YOUR OPINIONS AND CONCERNS TO THE NATIONAL GOVERNING BODY OF THE SPORT.

STOP COMPLAINING AND ACTUALLY TRY AND TAKE ACTION.... CALLING US NAMES AND RANTING ON IN A BBS ISN'T THE WAY TO TAKE ACTION TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.

I just wanted to sum up where we are right now, in reference to this conversation. The Anti-iPod crowd has come to the following conclusions: Runners need to be viewed as prisoners, who cannot be allowed to run their assylum.

so what the forces of the Pro-Anarchy coalition want you to believe is that you have the right to pay for the priveldge of joining in the festivities....but the "house" doesn't have the right to set the rules of their own private party.

No come back for putting on your own IPOD friendly event?

No come back to driving with headphones is also illegal, though a radio is not

AND......... if personal headset use is so safe...... WHY ISONE OF THE FIRST STEPS MOST " WOMEN'S PERSONAL SAFETY" COURSES TEACH IS TO NOT WERE A HEADSET, BECAUSE YOU LEAVE YOURSELF OPEN TO THINGS YOU'LL TUNE OUT OR PLAIN JUST NOT HERE.

I'm 42, and you're again trying to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, Don't know how to treat participants...and again and again that you have the right to do what you want, even though its my race, and I follow the rules set forth ....you have the right to abstain from our races....but you'd rather whine that you don't like how I conduct something I own, something I take financial responsibility for, events we plan for months..... but you know more and your rights are more important...AND YOU WANT TO CALL ME JUVENILE?
