LARBARS!! Lots (most) are vegan and gluten free! There are even mini packages of them (2-3 bites worth) that are great for fitting into a fuel belt.

Also on my list:

-Braggs (good source of B12)

-Nutritional Yeast

-Quinoa is my favorite pre-race meal...along with tempeh (I try to avoid soy when I can)

-Justin's Nut Butter- they are great replacements for energy "shots" if you will....all types of flavors and great (organic) energy

-I put my own brew of green tea and agave in my fuel belt (don't like all the sugar and dyes in the gatorades)

-If you don't already have one - invest in a dehydrator- I make loads of dried apples, mangoes and kiwi

...I will brainstorm more - I would also love to hear about more of your nutritional creations......hope this helps!

heather

Any vegan distance runners out there who want to share tips?

I find it difficult to find quick and easy nutrient/caloric-rich bites to fill up on during training...and recovery meals. I feel that I have faired well overall but I also believe that there is more to release in my running - if only I had the energy to tap into it.

Thanks for the sharing!

heather
