Just go out and have fun!

I am going to go ahead and echo everybody else's statements here and say that this was the worst 5k I have ever done. This was my first mud run and I was very excited about it, but I am turned off completely to ever doing this run again. I've done two marathons, several 5ks, and a triathlon, and out of all of them this was the most miserable experience of my life.

First, there was the lack of communication. My email inbox grabbed and junked the GMR email, so I called the number on the website and spoke to a guy who was very rude. He acted like he didn't care, and simply told me to "just go" and get my packet from the Storm Stadium. No directions, no address, nothing. So, I googled it, found and went to the site to pick up my packet. Upon pickup, there were two girls there that were very unoorganized. It took me almost a half hour to pick up my packet in a line of 10 people.

On race day, I was told to show up 90 minutes before my wave. No one told me that this was a waste of advice since I had picked up my packet the day prior, so negative points there. There was no water anywhere (thankfully I brought my own), and no shade. I kept trying to find a race worker to ask if I could find some more water, or maybe start in an earlier heat, but I could not locate anyone who was willing to talk to me.

I was so hot by the time my wave started, and my HR was 128 BPM, and I was sweating out all of my water, so starting the race dehydrated was an awful idea. The halfway point barely had little dixie cups of water, the tractor tires were insanely dangerous, and the slide was hot and had a dangerous end. The mud pits were dried, and there was no finishers medal.

I have since requested a refund, but I have received NO COMMUNICATION. I am out $65 dollars and had an awful time. I would not recommend this race to anybody. Kudos to those of us who finished, but hopefully first-timers won't believe that all races are like this, because they're not. They're much more fun, and most races are more organized, so don't give up hope!
