How do stop the sweat in your shoes?

Okay I admit I am a "sweat" man! Doesnt matter what activity it is I will sweat. Living and training in Florida you can imagine how my long runs end up. Totally drenched!! I can live with the sweat dripping off of my face and most of body, the drenched shirt and shorts, but the "splish splash" in my shoes is bothersome. I use (forget the name) $20 socks so they are good for my feet, but its the sweat rolling down my legs (yes its sweat rolling down not something else-LOL) and into my socks/shoes.

Has anyone tried anything to offset this? I have heard to try baby powder in my socks or even put a sweat band around my ankle, but havent tried yet. With building miles for a marathon my runs are of course getting longer and sweater. Any thoughts?

What to do if a race is stopped because of something in course

Led to a discussion as to what would be the protocal if a race had to be stopped for a short time frame because of an animal, traffic problem, bridge opened, etc.... Has anyone ever beein in an event where the race had to be momentarly stopped for a short period. What was the protocal used? Was it restarted from the beginning, everyone moved on when they when they could (with just bad luck for the front runners having others be able to catch up) , or something else?

Great to have chip time and better finish line! Great volunteers, drinks, starwberries, and police support! Couple of points to work on--Second year in a row it did not start on time. I thought the weather was not bad enough to delay it. Most runners will get warmup for a start time and delay cools them off. Pretty much same t shirt as last year without year on it. As the event gets larger it is time to separate age groups awards into 5 years instead of 10 years like most other races. Friend was 5th in 10 year group, but would have been first in normal 5 yr group. Hope to see some changes and look forward to next year!

Top notch! Especially the half price through Active.com.

Pros:No problems with Packet Pickup or Chip Pickup. Nice Long Tech shirt, allot of portalets, started on time, course flat except for overpass, minimal traffic, ample police for traffic stops, plenty of water stops, volunteers, mile markers, finishline, chip timed, medals, quick results, and post food/drink.

Cons: No goodies with packet just flyers, no gels/bars on course, the OVERPASS--(especially for the return) can you flatten that one (Ha!).

One of teh best local events!!
Can you continue to train for both 5Ks and Half Marathons?

I have started to train and have ran my first Half marathon to see how I would like it. I enjoyed it and came in at 1:55:10 with not going all out. I want to continue training for the Half (maybe do 2 or 3 next year) with the goal of doing a Full near the end of 2012, but want to be able to continue to do various 5ks from time to time and work on getting it lower. Is this possible to train for different distances or better to focus on one?
