Is it quicker, more athletic players that can play mutiple roles? Or is it coaching? Or is it just the ebb and flow of the sport? I think it may be a comination of all three.

You could try that 500 times without making it once. And it wasn't at the end of the first or second quarter with his team up by 12 points, this was to win the game after the opposing player missed a free throw (which would have at least given his team a 3-point lead), which makes the feat even more unbelievable!

Personally, I think the Poca Dots, Awesome Blossoms, Pretzels and Battling Bathers are my favorite.

Best State for High School Basketball

Alright, what's the first state that comes to mind when thinking about elite high school boys basketball?

New York with Rice, Lincoln and Boys and Girls representing?

New Jersey? Can't forget about St. Patrick, St. Benedict's or St. Anthony.

Pennsylvania? One name: Kobe Bryant.

Virginia? Oak Hill Academy has launched more NBA careers than the entire state of Wisconsin (don't hold me to that one, though).

Texas? How bout Duncanville and Hightower leading the way.

Indiana? Come on now, Hoosier hoops. Larry Bird. Great teams like Lawrence North.

California? From Oakland to San Diego, the talent never ends. Mater Dei out of Santa Ana is the BasketballPower preseason #1.

For me, I think it's either New York or Pennsylvania where there is so much talent across the board. Especially so after reading "The Last Shot" by Darcy Frey about playground ball and high school kids trying to make it big, citing Stephon Marbury and Lincoln High.

Which feat do you think is the hardest to accomplish in a softball game?

A.) A complete game shutout by a pitcher

B.) 10 + strikeouts by a pitcher in a game

C.) Perfect day at the plate (i.e. 4 for 4 batting)

D.) Hit a home run

I personally believe that notching 10 or more strikeouts in a single game is the most admirable. It takes great skill and precision, and also great concentration and endurance. Chances are that the pitcher has at least three or four stellar pitches in her repertoire and can handle the rigors of pitching long distance while batters come up to bat 2-4 times in a game and can pick up tendencies. To be able to accomplish this is simply outstanding.

Hands down, California softball is the best. Three key reasons: It's the #1 most populous state in the United States, the weather is ideal and optimal year-round for softball play and conditions, and the state also carries a history of success and tradition (which continues on throughout generations).

First state that comes to mind as soon as someone asks me, what's the top location for softball, I immediately say California without hesitation.

That is an out all the way. This outfielder makes the catch of the century, and yet it's called a home run. She clearly made the catch while still on the field. If the fence hadn't been so flimsy, she would have held on to the ball and come down with a hard crash landing on the field. She was robbed. Great play though!
