I have never heard of "Electronic Cigarettes" What is it? Have him get a book called The Easy Way To Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. His methodis a world wide yet still little known success. He has clinics all over the globe that boast a proven success rate of 90%. That success rate is over twice that of all other smoking cessation methods combined. I know many many people that were chain smokers for years who quit with very little effort after reading the book. They tried every thing out there with no luck but the book was like a miracle cure. Good luck!

Me and my little feet,

With out knowing your diet, hydration, recovery routine, or how intense and frequent you train it is difficult and dangerous to advise you but? Hearing that you circuit train makes me wonder if you are over training because what you described sounds to me like fatigue. Food for thought! I would have a close look at your complete training routine then analyze things more thoroughly.

Nice job, you have really stepped up big time from just a few short months ago!

Friday I did a 5K run, it woke my legs up pretty good. I am anxious to get back to where I was. I am thinking maybe another week of 5K runs then hit it hard like I was. 21 days off seems so little time off to have to fight so hard getting back where I was but I am not a young man any more so I guess it goes with the territory.

Once again, Nice job Racers!

While I am still pretty congested I am back at half my routine after my 21 day lay off. My mind is in a good place for getting back, even exceeding well beyond where I left off.

I want to thank every body for the well wishes, they helped me immensely. I see this as my extended family of sorts so it was a warm feeling reading all of your comments. That said, I feel it is time to explain. Those of you who have been here awhile know that rarely do I take off on my self but this is an exception.

Two weeks ago, Monday, I was lacing up my running shoes. I was called to the phone to be told my Father was taken to the hospital and it was bad. I rushed there to find him very ill and barely conscious. Backing up a bit here, he has had a rough last 12 or so years. He first was diagnosed as diabetic then had to have a double heart bypass. Soon after that he was diagnosed with severe lung cancer. Being a homicide cop for 25 years had caused him to smoke heavily as a means to cope with the stress of his job. He underwent radical chemotherapy and radiation both which nearly killed him but he was a tough SOB who dealt with every ailment as best as you can imagine so far up to the Cancer treatments which left him fragile as can be. He lost all his hair so in tribute I shaved my head, which to this day I still do.

Well, Monday and Tuesday were spent by his side in the hospital. The next day, Wednesday, I came down with the most severe upper respiratory/cold infection of my life. I spent the next 7 days in bed, it was brutal as hell, never in my life have I been that sick. It was hard knowing my Father was so ill but having to stay away for his health concerns of catching what ever it was I had complicating his already failing condition. He hung on and fought back for two weeks until this last Friday it was determined he was too ill to recover so I brought him home Saturday morning to pass with dignity in front of his big screen football with his wife and dog. He passed peacefully early Monday morning.

Needless to say that since starting running in April of this year, I have been for the first time sidelined now for just over two weeks due to emotions and also not being able to breath at all due to my illness. My chest congestion and coughing is still heavy and from what others have said who have had this recently it hangs on for several weeks after. I tried to detach what I am going through by run/walking yesterday but took it rather easy after my lay off. I hope to soon be back up to par doing my four mile runs sooner rather than later.

Thank You all for your support!

Wow, 70 pages and so many new members, Welcome to all of you. I see I have much catching up to do but wanted to give a shout out to my dad here and say that, " I am back among you all once again".

What I have been told by both an Elite Runner and a Marathon Runner is that arm drive is crucial to leg movement for a few reasons. Yes, I realize my use of "arm drive" and "leg movement" are reversed from yours but I am only repeating what they said, it also makes sense with what I feel in that my arms are driving my legs. They both also told me to focus more on driving my elbows back rather than forward which has helped me immensely, I can really feel the difference. Arm drive also helps time the legs, it helps maintain your cadence. It is much easier to keep cadence or stay on my pace using my arms rather than my legs. Arm drive also aids in getting my legs going when they feel as if there is nothing left in them. At times I focus so much on my arm movement I forget my legs are working hard. I am glad to hear you are back at it hard core and concentrating on your form.

Try not getting too fixated on speeding up and increasing the difficulty during the C25K program as it will be difficult before you know it. " Keep it up every body.

I took another road trip but am staying in tune with the group and also staying on top of my running along with some much deserved kicking back time. I wanted to include a picture. Guess what I am doing here?

Every Body keep at it!
