We knew parking could be a problem so our hotel shuttled us to within half a mile. I LOVE the flyover. The race is special to me since my twin and I ran the half on our 65th birthday in '06 and she died on our birthday in '09 so I ran the full on our birthday this year. Bittersweet. The course was well supplied with water stops and the finish line remained open and well stocked til the last runner came in - nice. I wish there had been a finish line photo in front of a big airplane like in '06. And I missed the official photo with medal. I do like winning my age group.

Excellent organization and support. Roads were bad but doable for this waay back in the packer. Mother nature was ugly - rough water for the swim and too hot. I had to sag out with heat issues around 30 miles and now must do it again next year just to earn a medal. I especially like that they kept the finish line open for the last athlete even though everything was used up and gone. And I liked that they lumped us old athletes in one wave and allowed 10 minutes before the next wave - who swam over us anyway due to the rough water but I appreciate the effort.

Awesome support, aid stations, finish line care. Horrendously difficult trail. Absolutely gorgeous! I am a slow runner, age 67, and after several face plants and too much wading through icy creeks plus worrying that I would not make the cutoff time I gave it up at mile 21. Must come back next year if I can convince someone to stay with me. Thanks DINO and Brian.
