I am allowing myself to drink cause lets face it that would be hard. The way I think is that I am drinking a glass of low fat milk for breakfast (which I am not a breakfast eater anyway) and then I will drink water should I get hungry around lunchtime I will have a V8 which I drink if I get the feeling of hunger so I am still taking in calories just not through food.

I don't mean to sound angry Sooze you are absolutely right but when people say I have a eating disorder because I choose to fast I think that is a little far and beyond. However thanks for the post.

Thanks alot.

I have been reading each and everyone of the post here and I think I am being misunderstood.

First off people I do not have a eating disorder of any kind. I am doing this spirtually, and for health reasons that is it. My brother in law whom is a preacher does this fast when they are asking for something from god whether it be financial etc. He also done this for 21 days and I assure you he is alive and well.

I could understand the concern if this was a constant thing in my life but it is not. I believe that fasting is a very freeing thing to do both spritually and mentally.

What really boggles my mind is that most of these post are probably people who know nothing about it and have never tried it for one day. You all seem to forget this is the same thing god did for you!

I can completely understand your thoughts considering that is most peoples thoughts however I feel like in order to have something to say you should know about what your posting about rather than just the stereotype.

I do appreciate the post and I am not offended mostly because I expected some awful remarks but mostly because I know the true benefits of fasting which by the way has nothing to do with weight loss. God bless you all!

I appreciate your positive attitude on this very stereotyped subject. I actually thought there would be more people on this site that do fast. Frankly I don't think that fasting is a bad thing. Actually I feel very good when I fast and that tells me we eat more for enjoyment than because we actually have to.

Of course I am being careful. I am staying very well hydrated and I know the signs of my body which I will watch. For those of you without an idea of this you should get more facts about it.

quote:

Originally posted by Elaine3112:

Yes, I fast once a month mostly for spiritual reasons and also the money I would have spent on the food and drink I give to the needy. I abstain from food and drink for a total of 24 hours usually Saturday lunchtime until Sunday lunchtime. I always make sure I'm well hydrated before the start of the fast and I don't run or exert too much during the period of fast. I've been doing it for a number of years now.

I know 100's of people who do this and have not suffered in any way. However I certainly wouldn't consider doing it for any longer than 24 hours, doing it when unwell, pregnant etc., or exerting myself (running) during the fast.

It's very much an individual thing but do consider the impact on your body for doing it.

have you ever fasted?

Hello all. My post today relates to something that I have come to do in my life and that is fasting. Has anyone ever tried it? The most I have done is 9 days and actually it is sad because I realized that I mostly eat to eat and not becuase I have to. After about the 2nd day you don't even feel hungry anymore and it is a great for cleansing. I think the hardest part is mostly missing eating like you get so used to doing it in your life that you are missing something when your not.

Anyway I almost done with day two just 19 more days to go. Thanks for the replys.

Don't always run 4 miles one day do 2.5 then 3 or 4 just don't make it the same every day and try to run at least 4 days a week.

As for the shoes I run in the same shoes because mostly I am a pretty routine person so I get used to doing and using the same things. If your a new runner try not to go by timing cause that can really mess you up just focus on finishing your run and what I did is try to set goals for myself. If one week I finished a 3 mile run in 30 min I would shoot to finish is 5 min faster the next week.

I need at least 7 hours of sleep good for 8. I can do one day of having 5 hours but not two in a row.

Obviously if you were that lacking then you already have the answer to your question. Sleep is totally important to me I love feeling good when I wake up.

Most people find that not eating at all before a race is best. Try not to eat nothing new. Also maybe for a couple weeks before the race you can practice what is better for you so when your racing you don't end up sick or with the side pains. Also I have to start at the same end the the trail I always do or else my run never goes good (mental). I then have to have some kind of lip balm plus gum it keeps me sound if I am chewy my gum. I like to wear the same shoes to and cannot run if I have eaten more than three hours before.

This is silly but I really like to run in my white tank tops really what some people in the south call "wife beaters" but to me they are just plain comfy.
