Spicey and I lost weight before our last halfs and both had prs and I think a lot of it was the weight loss, not all of course but a big part. I need to drop another 15 . I have an addiction to pizza and football though.

Hal Higdon has a good schedule and there are others. Find one that fits your life style and running. As far now, you say you've run 5ks , a good race to build up to a half would be to train for a 10k. After that you'll have a good base under your belt to keep going for your HM. A base of about 15 to 20 a week would be a good starting point for a half so completing a 10k program would have that and you would be use to running further and have a better idea of how to pace yourself for longer runs.

I understand the concern about the 85 degree temp worrying you. One thing I've learned is chaffing when it's that warm is a big issue. Body glide and Vaseline will be your freind, use it!! Make sure you have enough sodium also. I use NuuNs in my water before I run. Then Heed in my water while I run. You'll do great no doubt and who knows , maybe your weather man stinks like ours and it'll be wrong and you'll have temps in the 50's!!! You can rock this thing , no doubt!!!

Don't let people tell you any different! You rocked that thing with one bum foot, most people would of bagged it, well, actually most would of slept in and not ran at all! I can help with the ankle as I tore mine up pretty bad years back. The first day ice only. After that the Dr had me get a couple of buckets one cold as you can take and the other hot as you can take. I would soak it in the cold and then hot several times a day. It really helped and brought the swelling down quickly. You could actually feel it working.

We learn a lot from our first from chaffing , it sucks and hurts, another thing you ran through and did not quit!
